Well, I knew this would be hard to get disability at the age of 37, especially when I look ok. My employer had a LTD plan, and I had to apply for SS.
I was sure SS would deny me the first time, but I was really surprised at my employer's LTD plan.
And even though I understand why they do what they do (LTD and SS), I just wish sometimes they could step inside one of our shoes for a day and live life like me, and then see if they could still deny someone like me.
Ugh, Shalome

yes, DO NOT GIVE UP!
were you turned down for LTD or SSDI ?? confused on that point.
go to MINOUCAT'S disability at top of support and print it off to read and work on; get the RFC done by a supportive dr. you need to provide good, medical supportive documentation so you can win on 2nd step.
ssdi takes 2.5 yrs. to go before an admin law judge!!

I was actually denied both. The SSDI was first (which I was told because I am under 50 and can walk and talk, I would be denied.)
The LTD I actually thought would work, which would give me 60% of my pay. Which still hurts, but not as bad.
Yesterday, the LTD lady called and said I was denied. The reason is because my doctor is out of town (I have 3 doctors in town that can verify what she says) but that since I haven't seen her this year (we have phone conversations) I was denied.
I told the lady, look this is a 6 hour drive, she did see me for several months before we started talking on the phone. So, she knew me and knew what was wrong with me. The second thing is that I have to pay her completely out of pocket because she doesn't accept insurance. So, not only is it money for gas and groceries, but for a hotel too. UGH!
She said I could request an appeal, but I have to make sure the doctor's information gets to her, because she has officially closed her case. So, I don't know if I should try again, or get an attorney for the LTD claim as well???
So, of course, like most of us here, we were living on next to nothing, so now we aren't paying half of our bills, and we are having to file bankruptcy.
You know, it doesn't uspet me personally that they denied me, it hurts me more that my husband and daughter have to suffer because I can't work. That is all I can say, because I am crying now.....
I will keep trying, Shalome
