Dear Borrelia Buddies, I was advised by various members to explore Endometriosis as the cause of my symptoms. While researching, I discovered a site that was extremely helpful and informative. The URL is http://www.endo-resolved.com/ . All of what these women described in their personal stories is what I am going through now and what my mother had dealt with prior to her hysterectomy. Something no one ever told me before is that a hysterectomy does not necessarily cure Endometriosis.
Endometrial tissue is able to continue growing in your colon, or anywhere else in your abdominal cavity after surgery. Mom argues she was told that is not what she had. Adenomyosis is where the tissue is growing and wrapping around other organs. That is what she had. Does it sound as if she was misdiagnosed to you as well?

I had both adenoymosis and endometriosis. She may have both as well.
But I'm not sure exactly what you're asking - maybe I'm having a brain glitch!
Anyway - no, in many (some would say most) cases, hysterectomy does not solve endometriosis issues.

adenoymosis is when the emdometrial tissue has invaded the walls of the uterus. Endomteriosis is when it is growing elsewhere in the abdominal cavity. adenoymosis would be resolved by hysterectomy, endometriosis often isn't (although it can be, esp if your Dr also excises all endometriosis he/she finds when doing the hyst.)

Dear cactus, I was asking if it appears that my mother was suffering (and possibly still is) with Endometriosis. The symptoms fit. She had a hysterectomy, but has dealt with digestive trouble and numerous other issues for 25 years. My aunt just had a hysterectomy today, and there was a lot more in there than testing revealed. She is in a lot of pain.
Dear YankeeMom, Thank you for explaining the difference between Adenomyosis and Endometriosis. That helped a lot! From what I read, Endometriosis has nodes that can grow anywhere outside of the uterine wall into the other areas of the abdominal cavity. Judging by the pain I am in, that is most likely. Regardless of which causes the problem, all appear to have Estrogen Dominance in common. Everything comes down to balancing the hormones.
