my appt was at 2 and i got in around 1:45.
he gave me gas and three shots of novacaine. ouch...
made impression of mouth first. then took 3 tooth bridge off. found out had two cavities under bridge so how to fill those.
then more impressions. fillings, filings, etc.
got temporary bridge put on.
i got out at 4. i am so sore tho. the whole half side of face HURTS!!! even my tongue hurts.
asked about bridge composition. he assured me uses the latest metal components which do not include any mercury, lead, whatever. it's more a gold/metal combination with the porcelin top. i can't afford solid gold.
he assured me there are no interactions with lyme or ms.
i have to go back on the 9th. oh i have to eat very soft foods cause this temporary is not meant to handle hard stuff like candy, even crispy bacon, which i don't eat anyway. so looks like yogurt, etc., for a week.
but right now bad pain...whoa, this hurts. my mouth was open the entire time and the tmj is going crazy.
i have a night splint but unfortunately the new bridge won't allow me to wear it anymore cause it won't fit.
ugh.

I know it's not the same but when I had my wisdom teeth extracted (aka dug out of my gums...) the only thing that helped relieve the pain was ice. I rotated the ice packs 20min on one side then 20min on the other side, repeat. Had to do this for a couple days.
Do you think that your dentist might give you some pain medicine if you are still in extreme pain tomorrow? Might be worth calling and asking.
Oh, hope you feel better soon.

Two summers ago I underwent "the summer of dentistry" after having written off dental visits for more than a decade. Had all seven of my metal fillings replaced, got three crowns, had gum surgery on the top and root planing on the bottom. Had to go back to PT for excruciating TMJ flare-up. But now it's done; no more toxic fillings.
Does your dentist use a rubber dental pillow in your mouth so that you can relax your jaw while your mouth is open? I always ask for that. I also ask for breaks to give my jaw a rest. If your pain is mostly jaw pain you might try warm/cold water alternating in your mouth pushed back to where it hurts and also warm/cold compresses outside at the jaw joint. I freeze water in dixie cups to use for this.
Sorry you are going through this right now. I hope you are feeling much better tomorrow and that your bridge change will result in a lower toxin load and better health.

You'll need some protein too, since this will be for over a week.
Soft cooked eggs sardines (no mercury, like tuna has) babyfood meats Carnation Instant Breakfast instant cream of wheat or instant oatmeal V8 for some vegetables apple sauce fruit juices pudding cream soups mashed potatoes
Hot compresses may help the pain, or LED light therapy if you have one.
If you have Serrapeptase, start taking it on an empty stomach. It will reduce the inflammation and pain. (There is a study where it was used to reduce the pain and swelling of oral surgery.)
Continue taking fish oil and magnesium to reduce inflammation.
I hope this eases up soon! Carol
