I do not know the answer, but I do know that some of the things military people were exposed to did cause illnesses. Maybe those illnesses weakened their immune system and Lyme hopped on.
Have you called the VA?

Over 5 years ago, I went to a VA neurologist trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I asked her if Lyme was a possibility. She said "Yes, but the VA won't allow me to do any Lyme testing". She said the VA frowned on the diagnosis of Lyme.
I don't know if that has changed.

Someone once told me to remember anytime you are going for any kind of "disability" to tell the what you can't do. How your life is impaired, work, etc.
Some people try to be so strong and push through things...especially a Marine!
You can't say it isn't allowed for you til you try.
