Even though its practically useless explaining your symptoms to the uninitiated, I still bang my head against the wall doing so, believing that to let them ignore this horror is worse.

sometimes I ask people -do you really want to hear about this?
If they stammer or act uninterested, I save myself the grief.
Wipe the dust off your feet, save yourself from pain and move on.
Someone is out there who wants to hear.

i dont know john...at least i dont know if it is my job. over the years it has given me so much stress i think it has made me sicker...i do better with a one or two sentence explanation and then tell them to ask if they want more info
this goes for explaining my situation as well as all the ppl i see who probably have un dx lyme...i say " some of those sx sound like lyme and the regular docs and tests cant tell you if you have it or not. if want more info or resources or a lyme literate doc let me know" and i walk away.
it has just taken too much out of me in the past
some of the big rallys etc are easier cuz you have many that understand near you to support you
and the word is getting out...they say the word lyme now pretty regularly on the tv shows and news shows
i applaud you wanting to educate them-but hope you wont do it so much that it hurts you
anything going on in the activist area?

It is your right to tell people what you want, and that is fine. But in the big picture with so many of us being silent, I believe it only hurts our cause.
