Hello, I would like to hear from people how much they paid for iv medications. Aetna will not cover anything so I am trying to find out how much it might for everything from putting in the iv line to the medications and supplies. The doctor wants to do iv penicillin. I have no clue right now if it is something I can afford unless I get a rough estimate. Thanks!

i have only tried IV claforan, and with insurance it was $450 a month...

i'm not sure about other drugs.

it sucks you can't get help from your insurance... the meds are SO expensive without it [Frown]

Get a quote from Infuserve America on the web.

The PICC line was not as expensive as I thought at around $500. But this was not done at a hospital. Your insurance should cover this if your deductable has been met.

I think for IV Rocephin 2/gram per day and all supplies is around $500 a month with no insurance. You'll need to get trained in SASH infusion process and do a weekly dressing change.

good luck

I am finding out that it is more affordable to pay out of pocket for IV Rocephin than to go through insurance.

I saw someone mention yesterday that Infuserve America was about $700 for 28 days.

Once I hit my deductable ($1000) and pay my 20% copay, I will be paying about $1600 for my first 28 days and $800 for the next.

I opted for a port. If you have to replace a picc line once, you have paid for a port.

We have dogs and a picc would not hold up to the activity surrounding them.
