I have a big one this week...April 6. I can't bring myself to admit how old I am because I am probably older than most of you. But I am vain enough to brag that people are usually shocked to learn my age.
Maybe that is the problem...I look younger and healthier than I am. I hope my new vow to drink green vegetable juices, to go gluten free and to take better herbs and supplements will help me feel younger and look younger as I heal.
April is my favorite month. All the hills around us are very green....some even look like velvet. The wild flowers appear, we have lovely rain showers and fresh wind from the sea. I will probably celebrate my birthday with a drive to see the wild flowers and perhaps enjoy a cake with my kids.
My grand daughter is urging me to write my autobiography. I have begun it. Last week my son commented on what a hard life I have had. He noted that I had "never even been to Hawaii."
Sure, I would love to go. But I have seen some of Europe, had a wonderful education and career. In fact my autobiography is so full that I will have trouble editing it. Despite my long illness there are many wonderful stories to tell and some of them...in fact many of them...are very funny.
My grand kids always ask me to "tell the one about..." and then they laugh and laugh. My grandfather was Irish, grandmother French so I get my story telling naturally. One grandmother was Amish so that provides some interesting stories (and wonderful recipes), too.
I do not measure my life by trips or material possessions. I have been blessed with an extraordinary husband, great kids, many friends and a rich volume of experiences and memories. Now I need to get well enough so that I can write them down and can finish all the writing projects I have begun. If I can swing another trip to Europe with my husband I will be ecstatic!
Happy Birthday to all my fellow April born friends! Hope you think about all your blessings and all your dreams for this next year of your life.

Turning 40 on April 19th! And I think my sisters, parents and friends might have something up their sleeves...
I also love April - everything greening up, the forsythia and daffodils coming out and just all that freshness and newness. Right now I am enjoying watching the changes in the goldfinches as they molt into their bright yellow mating colors.
Happy Birthday April babies!
