My brother Patrick McNulty is in the hospital in critical condition with hypercalcemia associated with lung cancer. In Dec '10 he had a lung removed due to squamous cell carcinoma.

His labs showed his calcium level was 18 when he was admitted a few days ago. He's been given one dose of pamidronate (Aredia) but it only came down to 17. Normal is between 10-12.

He has been hospitalized before over the past few months and been given pamidronate infusions but it usually has worked. Our family would appreciate any and all prayers, healing thoughts/vibes, etc.

He has not posted here since sometime in Jan 12. Just wanted to update his friends. Don't know if Mrs Patrick has had the time to do that. He had a bad fall and fractured L2 so he's in pain.

I saw him yesterday. He's over 6' so it's hard for me to tell how much he weighs but I guesstimate that he's lost over 120 pounds. He still has his hair and beard. They suspended chemo until his calcium comes down.

He's one of my buddies. I have been praying for him for a long time. I do hope he pulls thru this.

Life has been tough on him lately.

I know he has friends on here. Thanks for the prayers. I hope he pulls through but he'll have a long recovery with the lumbar spine fracture he's got.

Patrick's calcium level came down a bit to 14.1 today. But he was agitated so they gave him some Ativan so he slept through my visit with him.

His daughter is organizing a fundraiser on his behalf. She's only 19 but I thought she did an excellent job summarizing his medical history. Thanks!

My brother is not expected to live through today. He will be missed. His calcium level rose to 19 and there is nothing more the hospital can do for him. He'll be reunited with his much loved dogs at the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so so sorry, Munch. He's had such a rough go. My blessings upon you and your family. I will really miss PJ.

I'm sorry more people here did not get to know him.

God bless PJ. He is a good man who contacted me daily in 2010 when I was having my own cancer scare. He alwyas had kind, encouraging, funny words for me.

I appreciated his selflessness and friendship. I posted on FB last week to some friends in our Lyme Warrior group about the fundraiser.

Hugs to all of his family, and to you Munch. A gentle hug to PJ.

I don't think I have had the pleasure to have known your witty and caring brother Patrick ... but I am very sorry to hear of this awful turn of events, and am all too familiar with the heartache that your family is experiencing now.

Heavenly Father, we ask you to touch Patrick with your perfect healing power. We ask for a miracle for him Lord ... as we know that by thy will, all things are possible.

But if it is your intention to bring this child home to your mansion, we ask that you will grant Patrick freedom from pain, the opportunity to share loving words with his family, and a peaceful, gentle transition.

Father, you give and you take away; and we are grateful for your loving mercies.

Please send to Patrick and his family, your strength and comfort. Let them know and feel your presence, and sense your peace - as we wait in faithful expectation for that glorious day in which there will be no dawning and no sunset; when the power of your perfection reunites all of your children, and banishes all tears.

This we ask for Patrick, and for his loving family, in Jesus precious name.
Amen.

I can't say it better than Auntie Lynn.

God bless you all as you go thru this time.
