We are safe here in PA.
We had alot of strong wind and rain. It's still raining and windy, but less so.
Our lights flickered alot but we never lost power.
Prayers for all those affected.
NYC, Atlantic City NJ, Ocean City MD and other coastal areas were really hit hard.

We are fine - have a bunch of tree branches to clean up once it stops raining.
Our electricity was off from 10:00 pm till 3:00 am.
With a tin roof the wind sounded really loud.

randibear, it will be a long time, unfortunately.
NJ and Staten Island and the Rockaways in NY are now getting hit with the nor'easter apparently named Athena.
It's a disgrace that so many people in these areas remain without power since Sandy touched down more than a week ago. And hard to believe that a nor'easter bearing down could bring even more damage and our utility companies remain clueless.
Hard to believe that people can be without power for more than a week in this country of ours. It's a disgrace, really.
If you look at pix of the Rockaways and Staten Island, you'd think we were in a 4th world country. The devastation is enormous and unfathomable.
For those who don't know, the Rockaways consist of mostly lower/middle class working-people. For decades, residents of NYC have traveled by bus and subway to the Rockaway Beaches for respite during the hot and steamy NY summers.
The residents of Staten Island are primarily hard-working middle class people who have lived there for decades and never seen such extreme damage. Their homes have been decimated.

10 days is a long time, especially when it's cold. We had an ice storm a couple of years ago and people in our state were without power for 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I think we are in for a lot more of this strange weather (global warming).
