Not sure if this has already been posted, but there is an ongoing debate on chronic Lyme. The debaters include Dr H**, Dr Monica Embers and also Amy Tan as well as several hateful Denialists. Anyone is free to comment:

http://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2013/08/11/deconstructing-lyme-disease/to-treat-lyme-disease-focus-on-the-co-infections

Below is latest comment which is by Dr Alan Macdonald:

Chronic = persistence of living virulent borrelia in human tissues over decades.
and the recovery of Such borrelia from DISEASED human tissues.

Chronic = cases of Lyme Cardiomyopathy
in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1990.

Chronic = Cases of Borrelia bacterial Endocarditis published from New jersey, Stony Brook, Strasbourg France [ with PCR confirmation of B. afzelii infection on heart valves surgically removed in year 2012}

Chronic = cases of Lyme Borrelia Giant cell [Temporal} arteritis published in 1987 in New York and in 2011 from the Karolinska Institute [ 3 more cases- 16 years later]
Acrodermatitis Chronica Atrophicans.,
Fatal Lyme myocarditis, several cases of Orthotopic Heart Transplantation due to end stage Dilated borrelia cardiomyopathy.,
Lyme borrelia Transverse myelitis., bilateral brain infarctions of the Thalamus nuclei due to neuro-vasculitis ,,Fatal Acute Respiratory distress due to Borreliosis infection.,European type cutaneous B cell lymphomas induced by chronic
borreliia infections,European Cases of Borrelia infection precipitated
T cell lymphomas [Mycosis Fungoides in Italy},, Lyme borreliosis related cases of Lichen planus,Chronic = Lyme borreliosis induced chronic panniculitis in Europe.

And finally Chronic borreliosis proven by culture of borrelia from human autopsy brains 1986,1987,1988,1993,2011

Chronic Lyme Exists and has significant morbidities and mortalities.

Respectfully,
Alan B. MacDonald, MD, FCAP 8-6-2013

He is a gem! I'm so grateful for him and other scientists and docs who continue researching and treating even when they get witchhunted.

I can't read the debate...I'm sorry [Frown]

As soon as I saw Shapiro and Wormser's name steam started to come out of my ears.

Argh!

Eight, is that an abstract from an article? I didn't see Dr. MacDonald quoted on that link. I'd love to see the original article that was taken from. I don't understand what FCAP means at the end.

A couple of these debaters made me so mad I was inspired to post in their comment sections.

But other debaters were spot-on, and I was grateful to read them.

The piece is from a comment sent in to the debate by Dr Macdobnald. He's not on the panel of debaters.

It was a comment posted after one of the guest essays. Each essay has a different set of comments.
