So, we need to spruce up our house, will probably be moving soon.
Our carpets look really bad, so we need to put down something new.
We've looked at hardwood flooring, tile, carpet...
Not sure what to do. I have MCS which is not as severe as it used to be, but could still flare up when exposed to some chemicals.
How long for the glue-smell to dissipate from the hardwood and tile floors?
Shampooing the carpets isn't an option; it just doesn't help that much anymore.
Thanks for any ideas.

I put terrazo tile in kitchen, dining and baths. the rest is some kind of hypo carpet stuff.
if you're moving, I'd go with wood or tile. cork is good too.

- Tile floors would be lovely, of course (glues can be an issue but that could be solved). The cost, though, might not be so easy.
Concrete floors can be made to be absolutely beautiful. Best in my book. New buyers don't want carpet any more than you do, nor does the planet. -

- Tile & area rugs can be interspersed with polished concrete, too.
I've seen photos of floors much more intricate and colorfully crafted yet, for a start:

Look for warnings online about some of the laminate flooring. Some of them give off dangerous gases. I don't remember which type or which company but it was in the news.

I know vinyl can be tacky but a friend suggested allure floating vinyl plank. I had no reaction at all. It was fast and easy to put down. I did one room with olefin carpet and couldnt use room for six months. I did the rest of house with allure vinyl plank. Some looks like wood some like tile. Even contractors assume its laminant until the look really close
I have a braided rug in living room over it and ppl assume what they see on edges is hardwood. Bedrooms have washable scatter rugs
But no glue...no mcs sx at all. Im so glad i found this product. Easy to clean. Mold resistant

I would never want concrete myself for the reasons you guys gave. Not only your hips can't take it, your feet can't either.
Same with tile. I have tile in my bathrooms and kitchen.. but at least I don't hang out that much in either one! I have one of those special mats in the kitchen.

I went through this last year - so chem sensitive, I couldn't even clean the carpet.
So we had tile put down and it's lovely. You can pick out an attractive color or design. It works fine, easy to clean.
I think I picked out materials for them to use that were without smell or very little smell. The store we used is called Ecohome Improvement and it's in Berkeley, California if you would like to call and discuss.
I wasn't there when the work was done, so I don't know if there was production odor involved. But there sure isn't any now.

Has anyone seen the tile that looks like hardwood?
I wonder if it looks as nice in real life as it does in the pictures.
The price is right too.

Cool!!! By the way, it was Home Depot that had the problem flooring. They announced yesterday that they will no longer carry flooring that has phthalates.

I would consider cork flooring and just avoid any toxic adhesives.
