I think it's from being exposed to where others have been, like pretty crowded, frequented places - ugh - a couple days of downtime...Taking lots of Vit C can help to dampen flu symptoms.

DARN IT ALL! So sorry to hear about your flu! At least the eagle and fish are getting a break!
Too late now (maybe or maybe not?) and this may sound goofy, but when I first get any itchy throat or sinus stuff or symptoms of a cold or flu I immediately use the zinc lozenges they sell over the counter.
Cold-Eze is the name brand, but recently I bought the Equate brand at a drug store instead.
It was cheaper (only a few dollars total cost for either brand) and for some reason, although there is a weird after taste after sucking on one of the lozenges, the Equate brand wasn't as bad.
It is suppose to kick the virus and clear up the symptoms (and prevent getting the full blown cold or flu) which I thought was not realistic at all (kind of hokey), but it actually works, and works very well.
I've even used them several days into the cold and within hours it was disappearing. By nightfall it was gone.
A bag of the lozenges costs about 5 dollars for about 20 of them, and to date I've only ever needed to use them for a couple of days at a time (3 lozenges a day maximum), one to maybe three times a year.
I keep them on hand now so they will stop the virus in its tracks.

I thought the first thing to think about with flu inthe summer is lyme. There are so many ticks this year and nymphs are so small you cant always see them. My dog and i are both on doxy now from attached ticks.
