Yesterday, local T.V. station ran a 2 minute segment on a local couple who had both contracted Lyme disease. The couple, both in their early 40's became disabled and thrown into the Lyme maze.
They started a support group and wanted to raise Lyme awareness.
After it aired, I recieved 3 phone calls and numerous text messages from family and friends.
My well wishers had to tell me that this couple couldn't get a doctor to diagnosis or treat them. (Did it not register MY 4 year battle seeking medical intervention?)
And that both were left bed-ridden, in extreme pain, desperate. (Did you all think I quit my job and went into hiding for no reason? You knew why.)
Also that this couple's medical LLMD treatment was cash only, and insurance will only pay for 28 days of antibiotics ? And how the Lyme tests are at best 50% reliable. And how it is the crime of the century that our government isn't doing enough to find a cure, ya da ya da da. . .
My point is that by being seen on T.V., it seemed to make it real, or validated, or proven to people that know my situation. Why they didn't believe me in the first place I can't answer. They have seen me at my worst and have heard my rants.
Sudden interest over a 2 minute spot on T.V, I want to thank that couple for finally getting the message through to my loved ones !
I think we should bombard the airways with our message ! IT WORKS.

I know.. it's so crazy!! The scary part is that people believe EVERYTHING on TV.
Now, we WANT them to get this one, but it's also scary.
I'd like to think that they DO remember your situation and that's why they called you.

Until they saw that TV spot, YOU were the only one they knew who was having all of these problems.
Now, they know it is not rare at all. They have been educated!!!! and by the TV !!!!!
