We had quite the blessing at church today.. Our pastor is on vacation so we invited a young family to come sing for us. They were the sermon.
We've watched this family grow up over the past 6 1/2 years when we would have those Talent Nights in the winter.
So now there are 6 kids, ranging in age from 1 to 15!
What a blessing they are!
Tonight I will take some friends from the condos to see hubby's show. They have never seen it, so it will be fun.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

I bypassed church today but did watch a Christian broadcast on TV with a good sermon about grace.
I walked 20 minutes this morning. Dusted and vacuumed the upstairs of my house.
Started some laundry. Am having trouble with spin cycle on the washer. Grabbed a neighbor to help me balance the machine and hope that will help.
Say a prayer for clear skies tomorrow during eclipse time. Supposed to be cloudy/rainy here.
Eclipse tip: Don't use your cell phone to take a picture. You may ruin your cell phone unless you have an extra set of eclipse glasses to put over the lens of the camera on your phone.
Time to relax.

Sunday-Very nice 'slumber party' with friend from high school. No exercise, just laundry and cooking dinner for me and Josh.
My Mom has been calling every day while in Hawaii. I think she's homesick! I sure do miss her!
TuTu-Enjoy the show!
Hiker-Still dragging feet about eclipse glasses. Josh and coworkers are doing hot dogs so I might be viewing solo.
Well, let me check online for those glasses.

Hiker .. What about using a camera? (but not look through it, of course)
They had on ABC that you could use your cell phone but put your back to the sun. I guess they meant you would watch the reflection?? That doesn't sound safe either.
One report said they don't know what will happen when trying to take a pic with the phones .. may or may not work. Rather risky .. plus too many would be tempted to look.
Gotta run....!
Thanks, AK!

I would not use cell phone unless I put a pair of eclipse glasses over it. Digital camera would work fine if you had eclipse glasses on.
Maybe take picture of shadow on ground or index card.

No exercise except walking around aside keeping kids on task watching the eclipse. Skies cleared just in time to see it.
Lp--Glad you got to view it through glasses.
Taking it easy tonight. Have not slept well in awhile and am hoping tonight is a good night for sleeping.

Monday-Found a clinic called MercyMed that provides healthcare based on your income. My copay to see a doctor is $30 and my first intake appointment is this Thursday. Am using Blink Health for my Rx and so far I'm OK.
No exercise, just running around and tried to view eclipse with Josh.
Home now and whooped!
See you all tomorrow!

Kayak .. you are getting closer to freedom with all the sales!
AK .. the medical stuff sounds encouraging!
Hiker .. I hope you get some good sleep tonight.
I slept really hard, but not long enough. Had to get up for PT. Came home and fixed a few things to view the eclipse with. Neither one brought much satisfaction.
I did enjoy being outside talking to neighbors during the event. Not one of us had a pair of glasses! HA!
Even at 96% here, it was not enough to make it dark at all. I was surprised at that. It was hazy looking and not bright....that's for sure.
It sure was hot and humid. It was about 88 degrees, but "felt like" 98. Really hot.
It will be cooler the rest of the week.
I also watched the Weather Channel and the eclipses across the country were spectacular. One of my friends here took some great photos. She had some glasses and a fancy camera.
Last night, I took 3 neighbors to see the country show my husband is in. They really loved it. It was their first time to see him play and to see the show. They were amazed by it all, so of course I was proud of him.
He's been practicing several hours a day for the other show since he'll be playing a new part this time. Different instruments too, so it's a lot of preparation.
I'm proud of his work ethic. That is what has gotten him through all the tough times.

Tutu-You have a great hubby! That is rare, indeed.
Easy day at work as we started some standardized testing today. Will finish tomorrow.
With bus duty and going to chiropractor after work, I neglected exercise again. I am going to have to find some sort of routine.
Off to eat a healthy dinner.

Did a little shopping and home to cook and eat dinner.
Watered lawn and trimmed bushes.

I agree I am making progress tutu but omg today I feel so much like I was hit by a Mac truck. I've already taken extra meds...but shoulders are so bad from lifting what I shouldn't
I confirmed builder won't be back til Friday and there is a sea breeze tomorrow so I'm seriously considering spending day in bed in van at the beach
I know I have a few appts next week...I'm not sure what's going on but huge military planes are coming in every half hour since middle of night to our local base. Usually we get guys coming back. I always get ptsd when there's lots of military stuff. Its like I'm right back in Vietnam days. I'm trying to keep thinking whatever happens will be for the good

I came back cuz I managed to do something. I figured out the note on my calendar for tomorrow is for the new urologist. I almost skipped the appt cuz of my brain and gi pulled strings to get me in
So that meant I had to shower and put real clothes on and go to hospital to pick up 2 cat scans that showed kidney stones to take tomorrow and that required some walking
My right foot hurts real bad for some reason
While I was getting ready to to hosp nurse called about surgery Oct 19 and I was on phone with her over an hour. Its the same or where I got attacked by mold and she seemed very concerned and was going to put me in special room
So that cuts down on some stress
Then I finally got to washing and sanding and putting poly on the last two window frames. That was a lot of standing and using my arms. I have one more coat to go in about an hour...then tomorrow the last coat and getting all the right pieces in the right room for when builder comes back Fri...after that construction stuff is done for a year. Yay!!!
I'm glad you had an easy day hiker
Tutu really happy about hubbys new job
Ak I worry whenever you use those chemicals but they don't seem to bother you. You must have good detox genes

Thanks for comments on my husband. I think I should keep him. He has a bad cold right now...Hope I'm not next. He got it from the bass player in the band. ..so I know it's a cold, not just allergies.
I went to PT this morning and then to Bible study. I need to get up to church to do inventory. I bought some cute pencil boxes for 25 cents at Wal Mart. That's a really good deal.
I'm off to the city tomorrow for acupuncture.
Hiker .. I hope the rest of the week goes well at school.
LP .. Hope you have a great apptm with the uro too!
AK .. I bet you miss your mom!

Tutu. I wash them with vinegar and water like I clean the house and a few yrs ago I found this incredible polyurethane. It cleans up with water and I can't smell anything and don't react at all. A few yrs ago when I stained baseboard it was a disaster. I did it outside and wore my respirator and let them dry outside for a month but when they were put up in house I had to leave for weeks.
It was the fall Etta and I went to the little beach cottage with the hot tub. When I was home I couldn't go in the rooms. Had fans going 24/7.
This is totally different
But my shoulder pain is thru the roof. I think its from the motion of cleaning and painting them
I have to leave for urologist soon. I have 2 ct scans 4 months apart showing stones. And I stopped almonds and went on low ox diet after first one so I hope he can see a difference. I think that will mean he knows what kind of stones.
If not I hope he will order 24 urine and hope they will do it right. Maybe since he is urologist he will order it correctly
I'm still exhausted. It feels like I'm drugged but I'm not taking anything new that should do that. Today after breakfast I fell asleep again
A few days ago I got a bite on my hand and it itched like crazy and swelled way up. I didn't see what bit me but assumed it was skeeters cuz it didn't hurt. But it swelled like bee sting. The swelling is much better today but the hole where it bit or stung me is still clear
And today I noticed I have 2 little cold sores and I never get them. Only if I eat too many tomatoes and I don't eat them anymore so its kinda wierd
On tv they are talking about new skeeters disease that is bad...and we do have their daytime skeeters now
I hope I'm just tired. The frames go up tomorrow and then I need to find a good cleaner to wipe walls and ceiling. In going to replace all hepa and charcoal filters now too cuz all big projects are done for a year or maybe 2.
A K ...I HATE when that happens. Come back and talk to us tho.

LP... Did you eat anything else acidic that would have caused the sores?
Don't hold your breath for a urologist to know what to do for a mast cell test. If he's ever HEARD of it, I would be delightfully surprised. Then there's the lab .. sigh.
AK ... We'll use our imaginations!
Made a trip to the city .. great acupuncture treatment. Making good progress. I bought a study Bible at Mardel's for $15 It's really nice.
Worried about my family and friends in South Texas. This storm is building quickly. The WORST part is that it may back up and then rake the coastline, dumping 10-16 inches of rain.
I PRAY my brother and sister in law's house will not flood again. That would be so devastating.
I got to have a nice long talk with SIL last night. She sounds so much better since she knows she is still free of cancer. I've missed her! Our talks for the past 6 months have been brief or few and far between. Many days when I call, she is not feeling well. It was a treat for us to be able to chat like the good ole days.
Going to the show tonight...
and guess what? One of my best friends may move two doors down from us. She just sold her house and wants to rent a condo. She will know more tomorrow whether or not she will move here.

Tutu--I want to live 2 doors down from you...but I don't like poisonous snakes. LOL You have a lovely condo.
AK--hopefully your newest post will come through.
Had good thoughts about exercise today. Got waylaid at school by a teacher who woke up with a tick on her arm (not embedded). She said she has found 4 ticks in the past few weeks on her cat and dog.
I suggested she see a vet give them the good pill for ticks and not just topical.
So, by the time I got home, my "get up and go had got up and went."
Getting near supper time--fresh peaches, spinach salad and meatloaf.
Praying about Hurricane. My cousins live just outside of Corpus Christi.

Tutu...that sounds crazy. No one should stay there. I hope they can evacuate
My sister saw urologist today. He says he can blow up the stone and suck up the pieces at the same time
She's going in next Wed. Sh3s still real sick from antibiotics. Both her and my brother get sick on abx but when I say that's a sx of Lyme they kind of make fun of me
It hurts to see so many of my family with Lyme sx just ignore it
I just have to give up and let it go now

My sister in law just reported that the assisted living facility where my father in law is in Corpus Christi, assured her that they were prepared.
So she finally decided to leave him there where he has all his meds and all the people to take care of him (he has Alzheimer's). Now they have found out that the eye of the storm is going right over the facility.
My sister in law lives 40 miles west of there. She is agonizing even more now. So many people need our prayers.

Went back outside after dinner and mowed the really high parts of the lawn. Alex can't come until Wednesday. Trimmed high grass around drive wand fence.
Doubly tired now.
I think if I lived in the path of Hurricane or where they are going to get 35 inches of rain I would evacuate. It's not worth your life to stay put.

Cooked and froze meals for the week.
Did one load of laundry and some cleaning in kitchen and bathroom.
Went to library. I should just should just a bed in there as much as I go there.
Ready to veg out tonight in my comfy chair and read or watch T.V.

Tutu I've said more than I should to brother and sister. They both smoke a pack of cigs a day and have for yrs. She has drinks every night for years. He is recovered alcoholic. I think from my reading cigs and alcohol cause one kind of stone and food causes another. He passed one 2 yrs ago. Didn't change anything and hasn't had another. I think she stopped drinking and smoking when in hospital. I know she got the patch and was so sick she didn't want either. So may be she will be able to stop ... My brother has accepted fish oil cosamin ds and probiotic from me because his doc said he should be on them. I sent her vsl3. I'm sure she will do her best to do what doc says...she won't do CP
A K !!! What is going on? I'm so sorry...but glad your mom is home safe. Kind of amazing to be traveling like that at her age. I guess I can tell you now my dad died in Hawaii...on vacation
I hope you figure out the car and your health is ok. Seems like you're getting hit with too much stuff
I just told hiker how I yard saled(very slow) and garden ed(I got a lot done) all day. It w as beautiful weather...70s. Low humidity. I 'll probably do the same tomorrow. I'm only selling 3 things so its easy. Plants. Teaching materials. And sea shells
The best thing that happened is yesterday afternoon the builder finished putting my window frames in. So I can deep clean the house.. Finally...after 3 months...and change filters and hopefully have less cough and congestion stuff...I know its from dust and also the pictures but I'm not going to deal with them for awhile
I was in bed at 7. Wierd that it's dark now. I could be doing laundry but I don't want to get up
Oh...urologist was really nice. Older. Calm. Confident. He said I only have a couple of kidney stones in each kidney and they are tiny and at my age nothing to worry about. The didn't change from May to July. He doubts they will move to ureter and cause problem.
He did mention the ovarian cyst like every other doc that saw the scan except my primary and the ER doc
I haven't gotten to have blood drawn for gyn doc...I need to do that
I was supposed to have liver ultrasound Monday but I postponed it cuz I was feeling so tired. The prep is going to be hard for me
Hope someone reads this before new thread starts!
Pray for Texas!
