my husband and my one sister tell me to stop reading about lyme and cos and everything else becasue it makes my brain runaway with thoughts and thus makes my sx worse or even get new ones.

I know the mind is a very powerful thing, but how can you learn what's new and best if you don't read about any of it????

If you are researching the beast called Lyme and are educating yourself from sites that give you hope and ideas for feeling better?

That is called being proactive.

If you are reading sad stories of death and destruction about this illness, that's a negative.

If you are part of the social media Lyme followers that are woe is me, rich people suck that have Lyme because they have money, negative, negative etc.

That type crowd is sucking energy out of you.

Hi LisaK! I can only relate to my own experience in my efforts to educate myself in regards to Lyme disease and coinfections.

I never experienced exacerbation or an increase of new symptoms in studying/reading any materials related to Lyme & Co.

Knowledge is power! Any attempt made for the benefit of your health and happiness is a proactive step in the right direction! Ignorance is not bliss in a chronic illness!

Do what you think is right for you!

map- very good point! I know what you mean and I am trying to not dwell on negatvies. I posted about my "friend" that I just unfriended becaseu all she does is give me negative negative negative. so I am turnig a new leaf , as they say it, to try and really be more positive and get out of her clutches that were taking me down all the time.

other than that I do see more so now how some people dwell on the bad. and I am learing how to adjust to that new way. my spouse is a negative thinker too, so I am trying to deal with that as best I can.

AKL- I get you there!

I don't think I agree with dh that just trying to learn /research makes me sicker, but I def. am v ultra sensative and pick up on other ppls energy on all this, even on line or other avenues. so I guess being aware now is what will help me most totry and stay clear of al that negative!

They don't understand that by reading and educating yourself, you are trying to help yourself to become well. That is positive, not negative.

And life can't always be positive. Sometimes its negative and we suffer pain. There is nothing wrong with that other than it hurts.

But life isn't always sunny and neither are we.

But we always move forward to the best of our ability.

Healthy people don't understand illness.

The more you feel better, the more positive you will become.

It is good to focus on other things beyond this illness that helps us to find ourselves again.

Just some thoughts I thought I'd share. Maybe there's some wisdom in there somewhere.

I research this insidious disease 1 hour everyday.
Why?
Because the science is exploding!
Everyday I learn something new.

There is a pattern to my usage of Lymenet.
I post a lot when I'm feeling poorly, usually bedridden.
I don't post when I'm feeling well and enjoying my life.

I would love to leave this mess behind, just not there yet.
Do what you feel is best for you.

Agree Lisa, my notes are like my socks, always disappear.

And others don't understand how disregarded we are by main-stream medicine. We are left to our own devices. We go to doctors who havnt a clue about TBInfections. I educate doctors, nurses, X-ray techs, MRI techs, phlebotomists, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, ect.

I print out research, take it to my appointments, and back up my thoughts with facts. I will never stop fighting for my health.

Lyme patients are left to administer their own IV meds, figure out dosing for multiple prescriptions and supplements ( and contradictions), change dressings, know medical terminology, all while sufferering from cognitive and debilitating conditions. What could possibly go wrong with this picture?

Lyme disease is the Wild Wild West of medicine.
