i swear i couldn't help but laugh. i was going "well, duhhh".
he goes hunting on this rancher's land. now the rancher has bulls and cows all over the place. this ranch is huuugeee even by texas standards.
so it's early morning, still dark, and husband is walking to his deer stand. can't find his way so he turns on his flashlight.
gets to the deerstand and there's a huge bull and several cows standing around. he goes up to the bull and starts talking to him, shoving and trying to get him to move.
the bull doesn't take to kindly to being shoved around and starts shoving back. eventually he nudged husband and walked off and the cows stood there and looked at him like he was crazy.
husband couldn't figure out what was wrong. until he told me HIS FLASHLIGHT HAS RED BULBS IN IT.
he was shoving this bull around with red light!!!
i really did think it was funny. can't help it. he's talking to this bull and all, waving a red light around in the dark.
it's a wonder he makes it through hunting season every year.

I love hunting season.... a few weeks alone in the house with my kitty cats.... eating what I want, watching what I want on the tele. No snoring... house stays clean. Yup - hunting season ROCKS

hey folks,,,,sorry to burst your bubble,,,but cows and bulls dont have color recepters in their eyes,,,they are all colorblind
the wave the red cape or flashlight for that matter is a myth, pure and simple.
He is just lucky that bull was tame and didnt chase him up the tree,,,or trample him. Some cows are no better. Some are just mean by nature,,,can you say dangerous???
Lots of people dont walk the earth any more because of mean cows and bulls,,,not to be trusted
By the time the cows and bull walked away,,the animal he was hunting was disturbed and gone also.

but mike IS color blind. and you're right, the movement is probably what causes alot of it.
one one lease the owner had a "pet" bull that followed mike everywhere. you could go right up and stand right beside him and all. he was hand raised.
but these bulls and cows were not handraised, they were pasture raised.
well at least the insurance is paid up!!!

keep paying those insurance premiums.
Even the tame hand raised ones snap at some point and can become mean.
Maybe age, maybe unknown disease,,who knows.
Local guy was attacked by tame bull,,,bull didnt stop till had him shoved thru a 4 inch square wolven wire fence the hard way.
Wasnt much left to mourn!!
Its like fooling with firecrackers with short fuses,,,99 times out of 100 your okay,,,then you get your fingers burnt bad.
think of bulls as playing with dynamite with short unknown fuses.
And if those bulls are sporting horns,,,yikes,,,they know how to use them.
What breed of bulls and cows were these? Some breeds are worse than others.
Never been around one but Jersy dairy bulls are the worst, followed by Holstein dairy and then longhorn and brangus,,of course the common humped rodeo bulls rank right up there too.
If you watch the rodeo boys,,,if you can get 3 foot off the ground on a fence,,,they generally dont hurt you bad and run on past.
Had a half grown heifer that had kill on its mind once. Had me in a bad spot and got worked over real good. Black and blue on 80 % of my body for weeks after...really sore
Now if that was a full grown mature bull,,I would not have been there,,,but zero chance of survival none the less,,,all things equal.
I have been stepped on kicked and run over more times than I care to admit,,price of having them around. They can break bones and crush you in a flash.
Believe me when I say walking up to strange cows and bulls and 'pushing' them from where they want to be in the dark is a recipe for disaster. Keep life and health insurance well paid!!
