First of all you might have guessed I'm ADHD. I made Robin Williams or Jim Carrey look like they were on valium!
It was the summer of 1964 and my dad was serving in Vietnam. We were living in Port Hueneme (pronounced y-knee-me), Ca. just off of the Sea Bee base.
I had some kind of flu bug and was just sick all day. Well Mama would tell me every 4 hours or so to take some "aspirin" and being the dutiful son I did.
That night the Billy Graham crusade was on TV and we always watched Billy. I told Mama I was too sick and just wanted to go to bed. She said, "You can go to bed after the show!"
"Mama, I'm too tired! I just want to go to bed."
"Alright! Just go to bed, but take some more aspirin."
I went into the kitchen cabinet and shook out two "aspirin" when my mother comes up from behind me and asks, "What do you think you're doing?!?"
"I'm taking some aspirin."
"Oh my God! You've been taking my tranquilizers all day!"
She later commented that was the quietest day I had ever had.
