I saw Michael J. Fox on the daily show last night talking about Parkinson's disease and wondered if he has ever been tested for Lyme.

If there was some way to get the information to him that shows that Lyme can be a trigger for Parkinson's disease.

I wish there was a way to show him the clip from under our skin of the baseball player with Parkinson's which was triggered by lyme.

He could be huge help to the Lyme community if there is some way to get in contact with him and have him tested.

He has a new book out, maybe he has a book signing event where someone could give him a copy of under our skin??

Any ideas??

After doing some searching I found this about a book signing of his new book "Always Looking Up"

"Later in the month on the weekend of April 25-26, he'll be on the campus of UCLA signing copies of the book at the LA Times Festival of Books."
http://www.bttf.com/forums/blogs/timetraveller/88-michael-j-foxs-always-looking-up-memoir-stores-today.html

Anyone live in LA??

Also he has a foundation: http://www.michaeljfox.org which could be interesting trying to contact, it would have be done in a very diplomatic and scientific way

I heard that he did have "Lyme" and was "properly treated" some years ago. But now he is facing Parkinson's didease. I don't think he believes the two are connected. [shake]

There was someone on here a couple of years ago saying they emailed him about Lyme mimicking Parkinson's...but no response.

You would think when someone that young gets diagnosed with an illness normally associated with the elderly they would be questioning the diagnosis. [dizzy]

I sort of remember a thread about this subject recently. If I recall a few people suggested a connection and wondered if he was aware of it.

One really has to wonder about Parkinson's, especially in light of the fact that he once was diagnosed with Lyme.

Baffling...wonder if anyone can send him "under our skin" or take it to the book signing and give it to him? The baseball player on there was told he had parkinson's. Maybe we could specifically write about that story when sending him letters. In fact that guy should be trying to reach him I would think? Does anyone know how to get in touch with either of them?

I sent a detailed email to his Foundation recently asking them to make sure it gets to him.

Who knows if it will. Here's the link to my post and the content of my email.....

Unfortunately the negative stigma associated with us "nuts" causes many to shun a diagnosis that us "nuts" have since they would then be one of us "nuts".

That took me a long time to decipher. My Lyme brain is really taking over today. [Razz]

I have been wondering and thinking about MJF since starting my Lyme journey. So I did a thread search and all this stuff came up!!

Wow I sure hope someone can get through to him. Usually it's a celebrity trying to reach people about a message; this is just the opposite.

Ok, going to read the rest of my searches!

Michael J. Fox needs to read "Cure Unkown." That book really says so much....incredible the work that went into a book that is sold for $10.00!!!!

Obviously, Ms. Weintraub has her priorities correctly....spread the word...

Supposedly, he was bitten by a tick while filming Doc Hollywood in approx 1990. The filming was done in VA and FL, so could have gotten it either place I am sure.

As the story goes, he was actually diagnosed with Lyme and treated for it. Three weeks of ABX I am sure.

I would bet money that his neurological deficits are related to Lyme.

However, IMO, it is highly doubtful that even if he did eventually make the connnection and improve with treatment, no way they will ever change his diagnosis. He brings in loads of money for Parkinson's research.

The powers that be would never acknowledge that he does not have Parkinson's. He is worth far too much.

Does anyone know if Parkinson's has a conclusive lab test to identify if someone has it, or is it a diagnosis of exclusion? A clinical diagnosis?

Politics are at work here. Michael J Fox is the poster child for Parkinson's research. And the best thing that ever happened for Parkinson's fund raising. Sad, but true.

I love Michael J Fox, and with the info he has at his disposal, he is doing what he thinks is right. Not much chance his handler's would even let someone with the Lyme theory close enough to him to express their opinions.

So.... there are several Twitter accounts for Michael J Fox as well as several accounts on Facebook. Obviously, I have no way of knowing which, if any, of the accounts are actually him. (I thought perhaps one would stand out as appearing to be authentic)

I listened to MJF talk to someone on TV. He said either her or his wife dx the disease as the doctor's were not able to identify what he had for months.

Then, a doctor comfirmed it. How. One confirms Parkinson I am not sure.

I do know it was one of the things they considered with me at one time. But, can't recall what the testing was on it...too much in a fog then.
