Been fighting Lyme for over ten years now. I have good years and bad. However, I have never been symptom free. I want to know if any of you have and how it happened? Also, has anyone done it without abx?

There are many posters that have reported going into remission and leave the board. A couple I still stay in touch with. Most of the people that post here are the ones still battling it out.

Yes...I know of many. Dr. B says upwards of 80% of disseminated people can "beat it" completely. 20% will struggle with it long term.
There are several on here who continue to post. Sixgoofykids, TF, and others.

Yes, I've been in "remission" or cured for over a year. I used abx for two years but seemed to reach a point where I had ups and downs but treatment seemed endless.
I stopped abx and used the Bionic 880. I blogged about it at the website below (October 2008, start at the last post, that is the first post).
Interestingly, my daughter was in remission after 8 months of abx treatment. If she had a night where she didn't get enough sleep or had other stress, she'd have mild symptoms.
I treated her with the Bionic, and now she never has symptoms no matter what she does.

i have been in remission for 6 years. the goal of remission is to remove the systemic yeast infection after long term abx. this must be done or the symptoms of yeast imitate the symptoms of lyme.
i had 3 iv's over 5 years and lots of abx and co's treatment.

I have been in remission for 6 yrs. Doc Dave is SO RIGHT about taking care of yeast. Otherwise you will think you are still battling Lyme, when it's really yeast.
I took everything under the sun to get well... mostly abx. The only thing I didnt' take was mepron for babesia. I took malarone and then clindamycin/quinine, followed by artemisinin and zith.
It is essential that you take care of all possible coinfections.
I have been rifing for 5 yrs to keep things at bay.

Our daughter has been symptom free and antibiotic free for 2 years -- after nearly 4 decades of illness. The missing piece of the puzzle for her -- after 10 years of antibiotics -- was recognizing that she had celiac, which was most likely triggered by her Lyme. We are no longer worried about relapse anymore now that she is aware of the gluten connection to her neuro symptoms.
It's extremely difficult to distinguish between neuro-Lyme and what I like to call "neuro-celiac," and many LLMDs are now starting to screen their chronic patients for gluten intolerance. A yeast free diet is NOT the same as a GF (gluten free) diet. We tried those diets to no avail for a couple of decades.
If you decide to try a GF diet to see if gluten is triggering your neuro symptoms, then it's essential to avoid ALL "hidden" sources of gluten because even a minor exposure in someone who does have celiac will trigger symptoms for up to a week, which can be very confusing and frustrating. That's why we recommend being tested for gluten intolerance at Enterolab. (Blood tests for celiac are not always reliable.) www.enterolab.com

I've been abx free for almost 2 years. (With the exception of some abx that stay solely in the gut to treat C. Diff.)
Treating Lyme-induced conditions has been a big help - Addison's, Hashimoto's, and of course yeast... And, for me, the gut issues.
I have had some times when I suspected a relapse - but for the most part, I've stayed in the 90% range, depending on how well we have the Addison's/Hashimoto's balanced.
At the moment, I'm doing a detox protocol, and looking into mycotoxins. Trying to get all the way up to that 100% well mark.

I got rid of lyme, babesiosis and bartonella by going to a Burrascano type doc.
It has been 5 1/2 years since I completed my treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life. Lyme is a thing of the past.
My lyme doc restored my gut for 30 days after lyme treatment was finished. I have no yeast issues.
I had these diseases for 10 years undiagnosed. So, don't give up. The doc is the key to getting rid of this disease, in my opinion.
I have at least 6 friends/acquaintances that got rid of this the Burrascano way.

I had lousy lyme treatment for 2 years, then switched to a Burrascano doc and was done in 1 year.
In that 1 year, he treated the cyst form of lyme (first time that was done) and also bart and babs. I had never been treated for the coinfections prior to this doc.
My doc says that the 1 hour Burrascano weight-lifting exercise requirement (every OTHER day) is a MUST to get well and prevent relapsing. It boosts the immune system, drives the meds deeper into the muscles, kills the germs in the body by generating too much heat for them to survive, etc. (These are the medical hypotheses, anyway.) Read it on pages 31-32 of Guidelines.
The Burrascano lyme treatment guidelines are more than meds. They also include supplements, diet, and exercise. All 4 elements are necessary for a cure.
So, be sure you do all 4 elements.

I agree with TF. Exercise was a BIG part of my achieving wellness. Also supplements and diet. We just went after the bacteria in different ways.
