Just wanted to say I came down with such bad lower back pain yesterday, I can barely move. I have never had such pain in my back..

Wasnt sure if it was hurt back or kidney inf. so i went to my GP today and he ruled out kidney inf.

He said he thinks it is a pulled muscle rather than a pinched nerve. I had tired flexril that my LLMD gave me back in April and it hasnt helped.

I know my body is inflamed...fingers, arms, face etc so I thought perhaps that was/is the cause??

My GP gave me some type of antinflamatory and I am hoping that will work.

We were extemenly busy at work yesterday and the longer the day went on the worse i the time for me to get off I could hadly stand the pain.

My GP asked me if i wanted a cortisone shot...I knew lyme patients are not suppose to take steriods but i didnt know cortisone was such (my bad self) I did tell him I'd rather wait as i am not keen on all kinds of stuff and not checking with my LLMD first...

I just read on this site about cortisome shots..boy am i glad i waited...

Thank ALL of you that gives us valuable information.

I am praying the meds help..

P.S. I have been using heating pad as well that doesnt seem to help but at least i have off work til Monday...I am hoping that will give me time to mend some....until the next

I had been on abx and flagyl but not for about a month or longer now..I've just been taking supplements but I have noticed that for some reason i have put on aobut 10 lbs???

I'm sorry to hear that you are in such pain Karen MC.

I had a couple of herniated disks back in 2004 and have never been without back pain since, so I can relate!

Keep your chin up. This is definitely a great place for information and support.

I am going to my very first LLMD appointment on Monday. Have had Lyme symptoms for 10 years. Am really anxious to start treatment, willing to endure anything to feel better at this point.

So just keep positive and don't let it get you down. Take care.

Back pain is the worst!!! Have you seen a pain doc? Mine helped a lot. She injected botox right into my spine and it worked very well. It was too expensive for me to repeat, unfortunately.

I wear a tight back brace on bad days and take Tramadol several times a day. I lie down with legs elevated. I have a few other tricks that work. Acupuncture is wonderful if you can afford it. My heating pad, alternated with ice pack on my tail bone helps some, too. PM me if you want more ideas.

Keep fighting!!!

For inflammation some supplements work really well
Evening primrose, borage and black current oil
I take lots of them, twice a day before meals

I have that lower back pain. Actually that was one of my "mild" (compared to everything else now) symptoms since 2004. But in Jan when I got really sick, it was my chest and my lower back, horrible pain and nothing helped.

I would get it sometimes so bad (before I knew it was Lyme) I would get out of bed in the middle of the night and get in the hottest shower I could stand and just let the water hit my still didn't help much.

Good luck. I hope it gets better. Mine comes and goes, and it's worse when I sit for periods of time, and it doesn't have to be long periods of time, like 10 mins in a car will do it to me everytime, no matter how much meds I have in my system.

Oh and I take cat's claw which helps inflammation. It has helped better than any regular anti-inflammatory has. Love it, but start slow so you don't herx from it if you decide to try it.

Hope you feel better soon.
