i have friends and doctors who tell me that because lyme patients take so many abx, that we are more susceptible to other illnesses because those same abx "sterilize" our systems and make us weaker and thus we get more stuff than other people.

i know i have a very bad immune support system, in fact, it's trashed, and if there's anything going around i get it.

but is it because of the abx or just because i'm run down or a compilation of things?

we're not any different than other people tho, right?

my sister now has this terrible crap going around and she never takes abx. so we've both got it.

she's recuperating from a bad case of yeast because of the diverticulitis drugs they gave her. but this is her only illness.

so she's reacting just like i do, but i've got lyme. she's never been tested, but i'm sure maybe she has it too.

my husband says i should have a bulls-eye painted on me because i catch everything. but normal people do too, right? and no, it ain't because of the abx i take, huh?

lyme has killed my immune system not the drugs right?

this isn't making a tinker's worth of sense is it? LOL....

I would say Lyme has killed your immune system.

but to add to the confusion... Most of us rarely get anything communicable because of our weird immune systems.

You are actually healthier than most of us because you DO get these things.

She's saying most of us do not get the usual head/chest colds and stomach flu.

I can't remember the last time I had a real cold. Can't catch one for the life of me... ah.. not that I want one....

But it seems like our immune systems do something that we usually don't get the communicable diseases.... ie.. the ones that you get if you don't wash your hands and touch the same groc cart as some kid that sneezed his/her germs on it...

If you are getting those type of normal virus's... she is saying that you're actually healthier than most.

It's good..... ah.. really.

Why don't we get the communicable diseases?

The immune system is such a complicated thing. I know Lyme messes up our immune system really bad.. but I also know it can be related to autoimmune stuff.

I have an ANA 1:160 speckled,...doesn't that mean my immune system is OVERactive? This stuff confuses meeeeee....

yeah and me too.

like the crap i've got now. -- running nose, coughing up all kinds of crud, head pressure, etc.

so if i get this stuff which is obviously going around, is that good or bad?

It's good ..

Our immune systems have two parts .. ours is overactive in one part and under in the other. That is about as technical as I can get!! [bonk]
