I've seen the Mepron Blues thread and I'm fitting right in with what many others have posted. I'm only on day 6 at 750mg 2x per day.

Woke up out of bed crying like a baby. Had some bad thoughts that have now gone away since being awake for a while.

Pushing along and took my morning dose of Mepron just now.

On top of that, I have my first ever flu which is my first ever virus in almost 4 years. I'm coughing up thick tan secretions. My sinuses are full and making my head feel so bad on top of the Herxing I'm alredy experiencing.

I guees it's like a double Herx...

Also having some left flank pain, like what I have felt in the past with a kidney stone, but I only feel it when I get up and walk around.

LLMD checked my Liver and Spleen at last visit as I was having it then, only not as bad as it is now.

So, lots of feeling terrible over here. I don't think I've ever felt so Sick in my life.

Still doing IV Rocephin, Bactrim, and Parastroy. Holding my Salt/C for now until this flu resolves.

Does getting sick with the flu mean my immune system is working. I have read catching a real virus is a good sign, but I don't truly understand this phenomenon.

I REALLY think your LLMD should be telling you to STOP for bit if this ill Gary. Honestly. If you're getting bad thoughts and deathly ill, it's a sign to slow down. [Smile] Springshowers on this forum said last year she was ready to end it all and this was due to medication toxicity (Mepron blues). It's no joke to try to 'tough through.' I hope others will chime in with better/more advice.

Good luck.

I'm really sorry to hear you are doing so poorly on it. I sailed right through 7 months of Mepron/Zith and I'm thinking it was because my doctor had me on so much blood and liver support to help with the toxic side effects.

Are you doing anything to detoxify and nutritionally support your body? If not, It might help.

Luvs2ride- I looked back on your posts to find the liver support you are talking about and I found a great thread you started on liver support here:
http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/62739?#000000

Care to share any specific liver support that helped you?

Maybe you should back off the salt/C. I can't believe you are on that many abx. That is staggering. I know you want to be aggressive but don't hurt yourself.

I started Mepron about 3 weeks ago and I got hit with a very bad cold so it was a double wammy for me too. I was extremely weak and am just coming out of that. I was breathless climbing a flight of stairs.

I felt depressed and continue to feel down - but not end it all down. My brain is clearing a little bit - I think. A lot has happened in my life not connected to being sick that warrents depression so it is hard to tell what is causing what. It can be overwhelming.

Take care. You don't want to damage your liver or something and not be able to continue taking the drugs.

Dear Gary,
Your PM box is full.

I don't know your body weight, etc, but if you started at that dose, it may have been too big of a hit!

My LLMD is careful so I don't experience any long herx reactions. Our bodies have been abused enough already by the pathogens.

When moved up to your dosing, I felt GREAT! It was amazing.

My LLMD thinks anti-parasitics would be too rough to use together with Mepron or Malarone.

Mepron definitely causes me insomnia, and it's listed as a side effect in the package inserts. Be careful not to take Mepron after 7 pm. Eat dinner early! I'm best when dosing Mepron at 5:30 or 6 pm. Then I'm eating breakfast around 7:15 am.

Best wishes,
Smile

Hey momlyme, thanks for finding that old thread. It does me good to read it again too.

I do try to eat healthy and lots of detox going on through herbs, glutathione suppositories, coffee enemas, infared sauna and now liver flushes. I don't mind any of it except the liver flushes. AWFUL! But effective. More effective than all the other stuff.

Prescription wise, she has me on Welchol and leucovarin (sp?). Welchol for detox and leucovarin to support the liver. I continue on this stuff even though I stopped Mepron in Sept 09.

BTW, my babesia is gone too! I had WA-1.

Smile, you are so right. My doctor started me out on 1/4th the Mepron dose. I had forgotten that.

Hi Gary,

I have been on Mepron since last June. It was the worst summer of my life. I was so..... depressed. Then I heard you are supposed to take it for 3 weeks and one week off.

But my LLMD cut my dose to 3 days a week. One tsp 2x day and bixin and augmetin on the other days. He thinks I have a real big load of babs. I feel so much better. I wish I had done this sooner.

Now he has me every other day mepron and the bixion and augmetin on the other days. I am handling this good.

For me, I need quality of life. Cause this is a slow process for getting better.

Hang in there and stay in touch with your doc.

lr26, I heard pulsing anti-parasitics is a VERY bad idea. What LLMD came up with that strategy?

luvs2ride,
In your experience with Babesia and the TBD gang, how often do think coffee enemas are appropriate?

I do mine once a week minimum and sometimes 2x a week. I do not find them difficult at all and I have gotten so I can tell whenever I am feeling toxic.

My doctor mentioned pulsing to me and I tried it for 2 days. No way, I'm staying on it straight for 4-6 months.

Anyway, this is a good thread. I think the reason I feel like c.r.a.p. is I have not been kind enough to the liver. this could be the reason for the dark eye circles too. Must keep at it I guess.

@ ap, I have always understood dark circles to mean stressed liver, so I think you are right there.

@ Jennie, On the instruction sheet the doctor gives us it states that we are expressly forbidden to give out the instructions because of the danger involved.

I know the doctor is just CYA and if I give it to you anyway, dr is clear of responsibility. But I've got to tell you, it is pretty intense and should only be done under doctor supervision. I feel very sick the day after and it takes about 2 days to get right again, but each time I do seem to pass a lot of "stuff" and I believe it is making me better. I don't have symptoms anymore, so hard to judge.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to be secretive, but I would be devastated if I gave it out and someone had a gallstone attack or worse.

Having said that, I think she pretty closely follows Hulda Clark's GBLF. (gallbladder/liver flush). Please don't try it without your doctor's knowledge and approval.

Oh, and I have to do them once a month. The first time I swore "no more". But then I started passing stuff. The second time more miserable than the first but again I passed stuff. I had more sickness reaction the second time. I mean sick like achey, chills, fatigue. It lasted about 24 hrs. I am due my 3rd one end of the month. Maybe I will see in the New Year with a liver flush. LOL!

I did coffee enemas with the knowledge of my LLMD daily while on that many abx.

Gary, I started getting viruses when my immune system was kicking in. It can be a good sign.

Take a break and DETOX.

Feel like a broken record here.

W/o proper detox you will NEVER feel better

I do not discuss who my Doc is. He is the BEST. [Big Grin] He truly cares and has been treating for years.......... He trys different things. What ever works. And this is working for me. I am at 80% better again. I was at about 10% better last fall.

There is no sure way that works with this disease. It is so illusive. The only reason I shared this is to let people know what worked for me. Not to tell others what to do. If the treatment kills us, what good is it?

The days I take the mepron I feel the depression coming on and inflamation starts. And the next day it lifts. I think he will increase the days I take it as I am able to tolarate it.

I was on Mepron for 4 months. And it was he**.

Any ways - MERRY CHRISMAS ALL.

luvs2ride.

Dr R NY told me nothing about detoxing..he never mentioned diet..I learned it all on here. I was told to use chlorella..so bought it and told to take espon peroxide baths....can you give me any advice on detox that is easier..i cannot buy infrared saunas and things...do you think all the pain and dizziness with meds is the need to detox more? Someone said put your feet in basin of epson too during the day? I am so confused..People post these long huge detox things that I do not understand.I jsut got my master degree at age 50 and lost my mind somewhere..sorry I cannot take it all in..
thanx all and merry xmas
