19 years since I got Lyme, every single time I catch a cold my aches, arms, twitches, migraines, etc, almost completely go away.

I've been on abx for 2.5 years, 6 months with a nasty chest infection then a nice Lyme relapse following. I've got a cold now and its probably the best I've felt since right before Lyme kicked in again, which was possibly the best I've felt since I was a child. 2 week reprieve to show me what a human is suppose to feel like.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

Yes! I also feel a whole lot better when i'm "normal" sick (cold, flu etc). The malaise and aches are gone. When I have a fever my brainfog almost disappears too! I feel like a normal healthy person getting sick, if you know what I mean. It's like my body just forgets about lyme & friends and only concentrates on the cold. I always have been wondering about this....

Before my diagnosis, this was the case with me, too.

I've only been sick one time since I've been on abx, and I felt worse. But I think that's because I'm so much better overall.

I think with chronic Lyme, the immune system becomes ineffective against the Lyme and co-infections, but still has some ability to fight normal viruses. When we get that immunity boost, we give our Lyme a small "hit" and feel temporarily better.

I know some people who never got sick during the worst of their Lyme. They always felt it was because their immune systems could not mount any defenses.

I had this happen as well: I think that my immune system was working better when it had the additional viral/bacterial load of a cold or flu.

That is reassuring and kind of messed up all at the same time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, but we've all got some strange stuff going on.

It sounds like we'd all feel better if we sat in the doctor's office waiting room at least once a week until we caught a cold.
