Hubby recently tried artemisinin 4 days on 3 days off for 3 weeks. The first week he took 100 mg 3 times per day. Tried doubling the dose the second week, but backed off after one day. The third week stayed at 200 mg 3 times per day.
But he got a weird side effect from the artemisinin. His tongue and inside of his mouth got sore and his tongue looked really ugly -- slightly yellow/brown looking and the backgound was firey red with patches of white.
Taking the test below indicated liver issues and too much heat and wind. Anyway I had ordered a Chinese herbal lyme formula called "Clear Toxic Heat" but had not gotten around to trying it yet.
Amazingly 2 doses of 3 pills in one day almost restored his tongue to normal. The herbs seemed to aggravate hubby's nervous system, but only temporarily.
Have not been able to contiue the herbs today as fevers have been a problem and had to switch antibiotics for the serratia infection and didn't want to be doing too many new things at once.
Have an appointment with a Chinese herbalist who practices with hubby's new LLMD for next Friday. Will be sure to discuss the herbal formula I got from the internet at that appointment.

Wow, that's great info Bea. I've recommended the tongue site for many years. My tongue used to be like all of the pictures(so it seemed).
I even had the split down the middle and the teeth indentions. My tongue used to be the same yellow/brown from just past the tip to back.
I never suspected or believed it to be yeast. I always felt it was GI related. I remember in '00 seeing an accupunturist and he would study my tongue.
He would get so confused trying to read it and he'd tell me it's the sickest tongue I've seen. He would give me herbs to try to help, but I was so toxic and he just couldn't figure which way to go with me.
I loved his honesty. I remember him telling me about going hiking in one of our national parks hour south of here.....driving home he looked down and seen hundreds of deer ticks crawling around on his body.
He absolutely freaked and got off at exit with Holiday Inn. He actually jumped into their swimming pool and scrubbed at his skin until they were all gone.
He went home and stripped down and conducted the tick body check of every area. He told me he was not willing to risk lyme. His dad was a doctor and he started on doxy immediately. Added a ton of herbs in for good measure.
Last I heard this fine young man was heading back to China to further his education. I did try to search him but he's not back here????
Never know? We could cross paths someday again.
I wish you guys some results with your new healers. You deserve a big break!!!!

We all need to have TF's luck. She took all these drugs and had nothing but positive reactions to them!! Sign me up for that deal please.
I'm glad to hear your husband is getting some relief from his major symptoms. I wish him the best.

It's GREAT when anyone finds their treatment and their protocol that works. TBTG everyone's day will come.
There will be a cure for lyme & co. Just like they can't hide the fact that there is a CURE for CANCER. TBTG!!!

Bea, he's still having fever issues? Ugh! Gosh, I so hope this stops for your man soon. You take care, both of you. xoxo
