If anyone has any good literature to share on curcumin, would you please post it.

If anyone is using it, are you taking it with black pepper?

Thanks for sharing.

I found a site by Mayo Clinic with this article

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/curcumin/AN01741

I know that it is the primay ingredient in tumeric--seems like the literature is mixed about its benefits.

My LLMD says it helps reduce inflammation. There is a product called Meriva that I have taken which has Curcumin in it.

I use Longvida Curcumin. It is supposed to be more bioavailable than other forms of curcumin.

Here is the website with more information: http://longvida.com/FAQ_793e0059ec540b681f29ad4a8b13.html

I take it primarily to reduce inflammation. It may also help prevent c.diff.

I am surprised not to hear more, since we know that it removes the pathogens from the vascular walls --- and isn't that the stuff we are after?

I take turmeric, Gigi, and have in the past taken one with black pepper.

At present I take the NSI brand without the pepper, but will change at the end of the tub because I have read warnings that some curcumin, including NSI's, may be contaminated with lead.

As I already have 3 times the toxic limit of lead, I reckon I can do without more!

Turmeric/curcumin is one of those products that I take because it is supposed to have a broad spectrum action rather than because I have noticed that I feel any different on it,

Best Wishes,

Carry

Both my husband and I take curcumin with bioprene (pepper), the NSI brand, which is the Vitacost house brand. He does not have Lyme but I do.

I had not heard about the lead!!! I had never heard that Piperine could interfere with detox either. Can someone explain how that could be? Cripes, ya just can't win.

We've been taking it for about a year, but for most of that time we took Jarrow Curcumin without bioprene. (I just learned how important bioprene is and changed brands) My husband still got results w/o bioprene, maybe because our multi-vitamin, which he took at the same time, does have bioprene in it.

Curcumin gives him enough help with the pain from 43 years of construction work to lower his narcotics use by 1/3. He can't take the full dose of 1,500 mgs., divided into 3 doses, that was recommended in articles I've read, because he is on Warfarin and our Cardiologist drew the line at 1,000 mgs., so that is what he takes.

I can only tolerate 500 mgs. daily, with lots of breaks of at least a week off, or it makes my Fibro pain a lot worse. I have gone on and off it while changing nothing else to make sure, and it is the curcumin causing the pain. I have a friend with Lyme who does not have Fibro who has the same pain increase from it. It is supposed to help Fibro pain. I take the 500 mgs. anyway because I have 4 times the normal risk for AZD, which scares me far more than the increased pain.

Been reading a lot about lead in curcumin. Waiting for a response from Genceutic Naturals about what testing they do. Their curcumin is supposedly organic.

I took Enhansa (a turmeric extract supposedly highly potent, some in autism community have had great success with it) a while back and eventually the pendulum said it was not useful anymore. Now I am on some biofilm substances (cistus tea and serrapeptase), and interesting to hear of it's potential use on cleaning vascular walls, with CCSVI as a potential issue.

Definitely I'll ask my pendulum tonight what it thinks about that and also just adding more turmeric to foods...

Pendulum says turmeric is an excellent thing for me to add now, while regularly rejecting other offers of anti-inflamatory and anti-oxidant substances.

Interesting this does happen while I am working on biofilm, assuming it is supportive of that in some way.

Thanks Gigi for brining this up.

I take it without pepper/bioprene. By the way, for those that haven't heard, turmeric supposedly has substances in it that interfere with absorptions/use of curcumin, which is why a pure extract of curcumin can be much more useful than turmeric.
