So, I have been off treatment for several months now feeling great running hanging out with friends etc. I developed a stomach issue three weeks ago diarrhea, constipation, poor bowel movements which made me go to a LLMD here in CA who ran some test.

My CD-57+ was 20 my wbc were only a lil low and my platlets were low. All i've read online is that this means I have HIV which I would find very hard to believe since I was checked last year.

I switched back to a gluten free yeast free diet and it seems like after a week of that my bowel movements are returning to normal. Should I request an HIV test again? Does this mean I have Lyme or could it just be caused by a stomach thing I went through. Im generally feeling fine now after getting diet on track just worried I somehow got HIV.

I would repeat the CBC and metabolic panel. See if the numbers have returned to normal.

There are many infections which could cause the blood problems you report. Some from ticks and some not. Ehrlichia or anaplasma or rickettsia are all possibilities in addition to lyme.

I think it is much more likely you have a tickborne illness than HIV unless there are risk factors you are not reporting.

What about candida it's weird all these symptoms are associated with my stomach. Not like my Lyme was...

I also had perfect blood work all through Lyme treatment... Never low WBC or anything.

No -- pretty sure candida would not cause the bloodwork changes you reported -- not unless it got in the bloodstream and if that was the case you would be very very ill.

If you had a bad infection from a G.I. parasite such as giardia that might possibly cause some of the changes. Changes in CD 57 and platelets both indicate a more serious or an acute infection in my opinion.

See I don't know if this is a change in my cd 57 it's my first one ever. I'm thinking about doing a parasite cleanse. I mean I feel fine so it seems my bm's are slowly getting better also.

My WBC is low. Just had it drawn two weeks ago and it was down to 1.8. My usual is anywhere between 2 ad 4. It's been that low for years and I am told it is related to the lyme.

The low CD57 also points towards lyme.

The bad thing about reading up on things online is we often look to the worst case scenario! Unless you engage in high risk behavior, I highly doubt this is HIV. ANY viral infection can cause a decrease in your WBC...not just HIV.

As for the GI issues, I was having a lot of GI issues which I believe are related to bart. Have you been tested for or treated for that?

I generally feel fine is the weird thing... I just went in cause all of a sudden I developed diarrhea for 3 weeks which has now stopped since going on strict anti yeast... I wish I had more answers for you guys but that's it. I also herxed noticeably this time after going on the anti candida diet and I started eating 1 or 2 cloves of garlic a night. No more white tounge in the morning since starting that.

But I did 7 months of Lyme treatment and could run 6 miles a day... Even now I feel normal. So I don't really know what to make of these lab test.

Thanks

well, I think it points to more investigating. My last wbc was 1.9 and my most recent cd 57 is at an all time low of 10. I am HIv - . I know my downward trend was due to recently stopping antibiotcs. I am obviously not ready.

My counts go up on abx. and down when I stop. I feel better when on them as well. I do have history of viruses. So please check into them. Right now my ebv is low, but hhv6 is higher than normal and have been on meds for that.

I doubt u have hiv, but test if u are worried, I bet this issue is due to nothing else but lyme and co.

Wouldn't Lyme give me symptoms and my WBC was 3.7 I think ref range was 4.1 or something. I have always tested high for ebv.

My platelets were 137 ref range 140 but looking back at blood test they seem to bounce around... My issue is that all I read is people with a low cd57 are generally the sickest yet I am virtually symptom free.
