Topic: Does anyone get a sour stomach from coconut oil?

I recently started eating a tablespoon-full of coconut oil a few times a day. I had to "train" myself to do it, because I used to think it was gross. Now it's easy for me to swallow.
But I've been noticing that I get a sour stomach for a few hours after eating the coconut oil. It's not really a stomach ache, but it feels rather like I completely lose my appetite, and also it feels like my body doesn't want anything else in my stomach.
I'm pretty sure it's from the coconut oil, because I haven't added anything new, and also I'm noticing a clear pattern.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I always thought that coconut oil was supposed to be gentle on the stomach and easy to digest.

I love the stuff, precisely because it takes away my hunger. I'm on Mepron so it helps me with the fat instake.
Also makes for some interesting poo later. I only mention that to give you something to look forward to.

Hi,
Where are you getting your coconut oil? I only use the cold hand-pressed virgin coconut oil.
I wonder if you have what I have... fat malabsorption. I cannot tolerate the coconut oil straight by mouth. That's why I prefer to use it on my skin. But I get stomach pain if I ingest it straight.
Jackie - thanks for the "poo" warning! I think my poo is gonna be ugly enough as it is, because I just starting drinking fresh veggie juices... and with beets!
Scorpio - I also use only the extra virgin cold-pressed stuff. It's possible that I have fat malabsorption, because I usually have trouble digesting fats. Maybe that's it? But I always thought that coco oil was supposed to be different than every other oil, and that it was supposed to be the easiest to digest. I don't know.
Yeah, I'll probably end up skipping it for now. Then maybe when I start back up again I'll take a much smaller dose. I just wanted to use it to kill the remaining candida.

It's supposed to be anti-viral. You may be having a die-off reaction. I believe some people can get that, especially if they take monolaurin.
You can put it on toast or eat it with something (a blender drink, yogurt, etc.) if it grosses you out. I never noticed that it affected my BMs...
Some people do have a hard time digesting fats. I believe people with gall bladder problems have difficulty with fats.
Maybe cut it back if it makes you ill. Something good for one person, isn't always good for another. I never noticed a difference one way or another with coconut oil. I do like it, though.
It's a good massage oil, too.

James, A tablespoon at a time may be too much for your wittle tummy. We all know how delicate you are.
Remember it's still oil, and you have to digest it. Try a tsp at a time, you probably won't have that kind of reaction.

Oh my goodness! Now even Gael is attacking me! Haven't I been attacked enough today?
Gael - thanks a lot for your response. I definitely will try only a teaspoon next time. I'll probably try it tomorrow, because I don't want to miss out on the benefits.
sparkle - thanks for your response also.
