This was unexpected and very surprising to me.
I had a shingles outbreak, the first in 2 years. My PCP treated me with acyclovir, Vit D 3 (20,000 IU per day), Vit C (2,000 mg 3x/day) and Lysine (2,000 mg 3x/day). It really helped stop the shingles from getting worse, and I started to feel better, too. I did this treatment for 7 days.
At the same time, I noticed that the granuloma annulare that's been on my hand for at least 6 months, started to heal. It became smaller, less red and inflamed looking, and one of the patches disappeared completely. The other is nearly gone. I can't wait to tell him at my followup appt.
GA (granuloma annulare) is sometimes associated with lyme, or thyroid conditions, or autoimmune disorders (OK, I've got those).
Anyone else successfully treat GA? Anyone have GA and shingles?

I have GA as well, mine is gone too with lyme treatment. I have one small bump left on my knuckle. I had no idea it was associated with lyme. Alot of autoimmune things run in my family from RA, and thyroid stuff. My aunt also has GA.

There is probably more evidence to support it. I've seen those on so many people and when the ask their GPs they always say it's not Lyme.
When will they wake up, eh?

- Good thread for learning more. Amazing. Look as the photos - many clearly look like lyme, misdiagnosed? I can also see that other complex infections could cause such rashes.

Thank you for all of the links. The pictures were hard to look at, I'm easily queasy, but, amazing that some look like bullseyes.
Do you think that a GA outbreak can indicate something about the lyme treatment? So, if lyme treatment can make the GA disappear, what about when it comes back post-treatment? Could that indicate that the lyme is multiplying again?
When my CD 57 was looking good, the GA was gone. My CD 57 has gone down (can't remember the exact number), and the GA is back...hmmmm.
