I was diagnosed with Lyme 6 weeks ago. I did 26 days of doxy, switched to amoxicillin for the past 17 days and added flagyl to my treatment plan 6 days ago. The past 24 hours I have become intensely nausea and had horrible abdominal pain on my left side. Is this herxing? Is it normal to feel this way or should I stop the Mede and go to the er?

Abdominal pain on the left side is sometimes due to bowel spasms preceding a bowel movement.
Another reason for severe abdominal pain might be a tubal pregnancy. At what point are you in your menstrual cycle?
Yet another reason for severe abdominal pain might be a renal calculi, or a stone from the kidney, stuck in the ureter, or the tube from the kidney to the bladder.
This pain tends to "shoot" down to the groin, and you might have nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
You probably should be examined to determine what's wrong. How is your appetite? Have you been having normal bowel movements? What is your temperature?
A fever might indicate an infection.
I'd suggest stopping all meds until you figure out what's wrong.

Thx carol, I am halfway through my cycle. I notice the pain flares up right before I have gas. Last night it was shooting pain through the night. However I have had horrible nausea for the past 24 hours non stop. I don't have a fever. My stomach growls but I don't have an appetite as I am so nauseus.

You are halfway through your cycle?
Mittelschmerz is when you get a twinge of pain when the ovary releases an egg. But that is not usually so severe.
If you had unprotected intercourse, the sperm might have fertilized an egg in the fallopian tube, which is normal. Occasionally the egg then implants in the fallopian tube instead of in the uterus, and this causes severe pain.
If the fallopian tube ruptures, the pain will stop, but you might bleed to death.

No spotting etc. Thanks so much for your insight. I'm going to check it out. I just thought it might be a reaction from all of the medications I am on.

Many of us have (nausea) (abdominal pain) when taking abxs . Ive always had both of these problems taking abx.
Yes, it could be a herx, yes; it could be from the meds.
When every you have these types of symptoms, you need to inform your doctors asap.
Hope you feel better!

I have had serious nausea when there are excessive toxins released in the body.
Immodium really works to control the nausea.
Make sure your bowels are moving so that you're you're not having toxins recirculating and getting reabsorbed, making you sick. Take magnesium to bowel tolerance or Oxy-Powder.
Also, take something like activated charcoal to make sure you're absorbing the die-off.
Drink lemon water and flush out your system.
I agree you should call your doctor, and or stop the medicine until you feel better.

. MFN, how are you feeling this evening?
Are you still having abdominal pain? Where on your abdomen, above or below the waist. What is your temperature. Any bowel movements? Uterine bleeding?
Nausea might be due to antibiotics, but severe pain is not good at all. I'm still trying to rule out renal calculi (kidney stone) and ectopic pregnancy for you.
