So the first dose went very well. However, hubby has slept most of the day. Now he has to drive himself for bloodwork in the morning. Hes already decided he will only take 25mg of benedryl. Will that still make him to sleepy to drive? I have to work.

Please have someone else drive him.

You cannot drive if benadryl makes you sleepy. Your husband may not be aware of how much that this is impairing his cognition and reaction time.

He might feel fine but you don't want to take that risk. What if he were to get in an accident? He could be charged with a DUI, right, because he would be under the influence of a drug. He could be injured and cause injury to someone else in the crash. That is unimaginably horribly.

It's not worth it. Go to the lab later or another day if you have to. Ask a friend or neighbor to drive your husband.

Please be safe.

After he takes the benadryl for a week or so you will be able to tell how he is responding to the med. If he is truly impaired or capable of driving and making quick decisions/responses. His body will also get used to the benadryl so it will make him less drowsy over time. So eventually it should not effect him.

I did allegra and pepcid before vanco. Worked great and no tiredness. Take care.

It took 20 years to find out I'm not crazy.
New bite in 2010 pushed my body over the edge. Positive for lyme, babs, bart, and myco.
I am not a doctor and happily offer only my own opinions.
