Oh, Bea, I am sooo very sorry.

You have my very deepest sympathy dear friend.

May God fill you with His love and peace, knowing that you did far more than anyone could have ever expected, to help Steve.

You are what a devoted wife should be and a picture of Christ's love.

I wish I could take away your pain and sadness.

Steve is with Our Heavenly Father and is perfect again and encompassed by unending love.

I am praying for you, Bea, and will continue to do so.

You are so brave and strong and I really admire all that you have done for Steve.

Be proud of the wonderful wife that you have been to Steve.

Big hugs and praying for you....

I am so sorry for your loss. Your efforts and the support you gave were amazing, Steve was a lucky man. Although it doesn't lessen the pain, all you have both had to go through has not been in vain and will help many others in the future, I'm sure.

Dearest Bea,

I am so sad to hear of Steve's passing. Even though, I suppose, it should not be a surprise to us, it still feels like a shock. For all of your knowledge and dedication, and all you have done, it was our sincerest wish that things would have turned out differently.

I am so very sorry for your loss. It's a loss we all feel.

Sending warm wishes that God remains close to you and helps you find some measure of peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Wish deepest condolences,
Tammy

Dear Bea,

I have always marveled at your academic endeavors in trying to figure all this out -- but more so at your steadfastness with the nitty gritty day to day hurdles. Love seems the driving force and that love will live on in your heart.

Steve was indubitably blessed to have you as a true partner on the path you both shared. In this time of transition, I hope you feel that light of love within and around you. Take good care of yourself, now. I hope you will be able to rest well with the crisp autumn air helping to make your steps lighter.

An Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.

And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Someone I did not know died today.

Someone I know only through emails and phone conversations lost a loved one today.

The first fought a courageous battle against inadequately-defined illnesses until his body needed to rest.

The second supported the first (and me and you) by asking that medical personnel try harder and not give up.

The first has found peace.

The second has yet to find peace.

These two people helped a world-wide community.

We each need to support the members of the world-wide community which we belong to by default and not by choice.

We need to ask more of the medical personnel that we deal with so that others who follow in the footsteps of Steve and Bea will have the burden of physical illness, complicated by lack of knowledge and resistance to change of protocol, lessened.

We need to pick up Steve's banner, walk with Bea in compassion and friendship, and continue researching tick-borne illnesses.

Bea, I admire your strength and may your strength keep you safe.

There are no words to express the sorrow that I feel for you.

You have been a shining example to us, showing us what it means to truly love someone and and care so deeply.

You have been such a fighter, an exemplary spouse, showing unbelievable love and courage in the face of this illness that none of us will forget.

I will keep you in my prayers, and wish you much love and light as you navigate this painful time.

I'm very sad for you, and glad you have family with you for support. Love is forged and defined in times of hardship, and you have shown your true devotion and love here. There are tears in my eyes for you, but I hope you know there was nothing more you could have possibly done to fight for Steve.

I am so sorry for your loss. He undoubtedly had the most supportive, loving wife a man could ever have, who stood by him thick and thin. There are no words that truly convey our sorrow at his passing.

Please know that we are all here for you, and will keep you in your prayers.

Please find a way to remember him, share the good times, and he will always be with you.

Bea, I am so very sorry to hear that Steve has passed on.

Today I went to the grocery store. After I parked, I looked at the clock and it was 3pm. A strange feeling came over me and the phrase "he is no longer with us" popped into my head. I immediately checked Lymenet on my phone but I didn't see any news that he had passed, so I was relieved.

Then of course, to check in after 4pm and see this terrible news was so sad for me and everyone else here, and of course, most especially you.

Bea, I applaud you. You have stopped at nothing to get Steve well. You have researched and documented his journey so thoroughly and completely.

You have done so much over and above what most people could ever imagine. I believe that because of you, Steve lived a longer and better life.

You have been a faithful, loving and dedicated spouse. Your strength and perseverance in the face of awful odds has been unwavering and amazing to so many.

You are a blessing to so many and a beacon of light in the darkness that is this awful disease.

I pray that God gives you the strength to get through the tough days and months that lie ahead. I hope that you find comfort in the words that everyone here has posted.

God Bless you, Bea. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Keebler posted one of my favorites - An Old Irish Blessing - and I'd like to repeat it:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

For Bea:

All mankind is one volume.

When one man dies, a chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language. And every chapter must be translated.

God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice.

But God's hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall live open to one another.

Bea, I am so sorry. You both fought a long and brave fight. True Lyme Warriors!

This is for you. You were Steve's all-nourishing Sun:

And still, after all this time,
the Sun has never said to the Earth,
"You owe me."
Look what happens with love like that.
It lights up the sky.

From: BettyG asks to share here, her post from over at mdjunction:
--------------------------------------------------

thank you to the 5,811 people at www.mdjunction.com lyme board, who have read this thread from when i first posted it 10 days ago.

your PRAYERS sent to this unknown person to you helped him last this long. you gave support to his wife, bea, who fought the hospital ALONE since no family members lived close by.

bea is the most courageous woman who REFUSED to do less for her spouse, the babs patient, then she possibly could.

if our LYME/VECTOR-BORNE BILL gets before the FULL committees on senate/house, i'd love to see BEA SIEBERT be one to testify on behalf of all of us for what they went thru!

she's a gifted writer; both she/steve were accountants; so i see the detail to specifics in all her posts.

please send prayers to BEA now as she grieves the loss of her beloved husband, steve siebert.

thank you all. this could have been any one of us; doesn't it feel good that total strangers reached out to help them both thru the stress, LONELINESS of handling this alone, etc.

god bless you all, hugs/prayers,

bettyg, iowa friend of theirs 8 yrs.

Now, for BettyG's personal note:

Bea, my heart goes out to you for losing the love of your life, steve. you 2 were such a special pair together; you lived FOR EACH OTHER!

you fought more battles for steve trying to get what he DESERVED to be done on testings and paved the way for more lyme/vector-borne patients/families to get the needed care and RESPECT they so deserved.

please let us know [contact details] so we may send you cards [and MEMORIAL GIFTS to use as you might need].

you'll always be a part of this community; i know you have lots more to share as you heal the pain and sorrow of steve's passing.

may god walk beside you now as he has with you and steve during these final weeks and years prior.

when you are missing steve, put on a video of him hearing his voice/laughter and watching gestures and mannerisms.

BUT make copies of the ORIGINALS first since they'll get worn out fast.

keep in touch bea; i'm so proud to have gotten to know you both thru your writings these last 8 yrs. of your battle together.

i'm proud to be a friend to you both.

hugs/prayers forever,

BettyG, iowa lyme activist friend.

Bea,

You and Steve touched many hearts, some you have not even met.

Wanted you to know that there were more doctors and researchers who were trying to figure out what was in thos video clips than we knew!

lax mom sent your clips and situtation through her network where more researchers were trying to figure out what was in Steve blood.

Thoughts are with you Bea.
