I don't want to overwhelm this forums with my posts specially with a topic that gets some much attention already. I do feel that my issues are a bit unique and that is why I am posting.

Why I think Yeast could be an issue for me:

- abx for over 3 years
- first few months on abx I did not take probiotics
- even when I started probiotics I will skip them many days (I know I know not smart)
-took abx alest once a year before lyme due to sinus or other medical issues(surgery)
-Have had a white tongue for many many years
-IBS has been an issue in the past

All of these can be a sign of yeast or at least a reason to have yeast. I have tried off and on to do the yeast diet with no real success. My issues was that I did not see results right always to keep me motivate :-(. I am now on a semi paleo diet with very minimal carbs.

Anyway here is why I am not too sure about yeast being the real cause of my remaining sx - acne, anxiety (it was bad today):

-I do get bloating from time to time but not constant.
-Gut is a lot better now than when I was on abx and paleo diet has helped with that
-I don't have any of the private part rashes I saw online (wished I did not see those :-) )
-My acne is mostly on my face and not entire body.
-I don't have adnominal pain, nausea or vomiting

See while I do have some candida sx they are not traditional ones. This make me think that candida might not be the real issue.

However, I started to take diflucan while I wait to see my LLMD this week ( I had a bottle from this summer). I have been on it for about 5 days and I am noticing a reaction. I have been itchy for the last 2 days. No real rash unless I scratch it. I have been some what anxious for the last 3 days with 2 of those days almost going into a full panic attack. I have learned to control these but it is not fun nevertheless.

So if I am reacting it could be an indication of it hitting something. I know it could also be a drug reaction which I am monitoring but it does not seem that way.

Here are the questions I have:

- Is yeast likely giving my sx and LACK of traditional sx?

-What are the die off sx for candida? itch or anx on that list?

-How long should I expect to have die of sx? aside from the typical detox method anything else I can do to help with the die off f that is what I am having?

-Does difflucan hit bart? I ask because bart can be the cause of the acne and not yeast.

-Aside from diet and the difflucan what other herbs can I take for candida. I have some oregano and GSE at home.

So I saw my doc today. Said it does not look like bart. Thinks I am loaded with yeast.

He does some sort of energy test. Can't really explained it...

Anyway I need to take this yeast thing seriously. I am going to get some product he recommended. It is basically oregano oil and do my own research as to what other herbs I can take. I am also getting some stronger probiotics and work on the diet. See what kind of improvements I can make in a month

Like any thing else, you don't have to have all of the symptoms for it to be yeast. It's very individual. I've never had nausea or vomiting with it. I would think that would be rare.

Acne .. no

female troubles .. rarely

rashes .. rarely

Symptoms list:

The symptoms list for Candida is long, and it would be unusual for anyone to have ALL the symptoms on the list all the time.

So given your history of abx useage without probiotics and the white tongue and other symptoms, I would say yes it is likely to be a Candida issue at least in part

(allergies may also play a role, as can the lyme/coinfections -- but chances are good that you have a Candida issue in addition to these other things).

-What are the die off sx for candida? itch or anx on that list?

I think just about anything on the Canddida symptom list can occur during die-off, including itching and anxiety.

-How long should I expect to have die of sx? aside from the typical detox method anything else I can do to help with the die off f that is what I am having?

I think the length of time you experience the die off would depend on how aggressively you are attacking it, and how well your immune system is able to assist with the process.

Molybdenum can help detox the acetaldehyde given off during Candida die-off. Also many of the other detox methods mentioned here on LymeNet would likely be helpful - bath soaks, dry skin brushing, binders, FIR sauna, lemon water, etc.

-Does difflucan hit bart? I ask because bart can be the cause of the acne and not yeast.

I was under the impression that diflucan may hit Lyme...not sure what else it may hit...

-Aside from diet and the difflucan what other herbs can I take for candida. I have some oregano and GSE at home.

Caprylic acid & coconut oil

Garlic

Thyme

Biotin (extremely high dose - I was on 8,000mcg 3x/day at one point) - prevents spore formation, therefore reducing resistance to antifungal treatments

Lemongrass

Tea tree oil (diffuse/apply topically only, NOT for use internally)

Olive leaf extract - gentler antifungal, but many say it is very effective

Probiotic yeast (s. boulardii) - e.g., Florastor & similar products

Probiotics (acidophilus, bifidus, etc.)

Candida diet (see Lymetoo's link) - no sugars of any kind (stevia is an acceptable sweetener; avoid artificial sweeteners as some contain maltodextrin or other simple carbohydrates), minimal to no starches, minimal to no fruits, may need to limit dairy because of the milk sugar -- eat mostly meats/fish, non-starchy veggies & healthy fats.

Thanks guys...I know I need just do this diet thing...It has been harder than ever. I am always hungry or craving food which I know is another sign of yeast.

I am also noticing that by 9pm I am just ready to crash...get very tire and sleepy like if I took a sleeping pill...not sure what to make of that

Like a hangover?? That's yeast too.

Hope you can get a handle on it soon. After a few weeks on the diet, you will not crave bad foods as much.

I agree with TuTu. The cravings get way easier to handle if the diet is followed.
Also, candida causes all of those symptoms for me and more.
Killing it is almost worse than killing Lyme, etc. at least for me.

I get horrendous breakouts when I attack yeast aggressively, so I do believe the die off can cause skin eruptions.

Good luck.

Sounds a lot like yeast to me. Other things I strongly recommend you try:

- CandiBactin BR by Metagenics
- weekly castor oil pack for your liver

Thanks for all the suggestions...I planned to go after it hard in the next few days...planning to take a few days off around thanksgiving to help me cope with the die off herx.

As far as diet...boy this is hard. I am always hungry or not really hungry but eating anyways...

I think this is also due to the fact that I am not eating grains which used to fill me up really nicely. I am learning to cook some very low carb breakfast to just FILL ME UP. I hope that will help.

Might try Quinoa.

I find that eggs keep me satisfied for quite awhile.

PhillyLyme,

You might want to try buckwheat soba. Eden's Selected brand sells a version that uses only buckwheat flour.

It's candida diet legal and fills you up!

I think it tastes like a nuttier version of whole wheat pasta.

I'm actually about to go pick up some more.

I also like oat bran. I like Mother's Oat Bran. It's delicious, candida-diet legal and pretty filling. Add some cinnamon and almonds (after removing mold from the nuts)....delicious!

Hang in there with it! All the best!
