Does anyone have this problem? The corners of my mouth seem to turn down more every year. I know it seems like a small problem but it not only makes you look like a grouch but it causes orther problems too.
I can no longer chew gum as the salvia runs out on the corners.
Food seems to always find that spot too after a meal.

Don't have any answers but I do have the same issue. Feels a little like my face is being pulled down by the cheeks. Same for you?
Hate how old it makes me look.
Sometimes I think that it is bilateral Bell's Palsy, sometimes I wonder if it is the result of swollen facial/upper neck glands, sometimes it sounds related to the trigeminal nerve. After five years, I honestly have no idea what causes it. Makes it kind of hard to treat when the cause is unknown.
Get where you are coming from though.

I have it on both sides. My grandmother's mouth curved down and I just assumed I inherited it from her genes.
I sure hate it tho...

Yes, it can affect both sides of the face. Do you have eye symptoms? Do you have a normal smile?
Hard to say from what you wrote whether this is just aging, normal in your family, or a lyme symptom. The drooling part is what made me think of bells palsy.

Long before I was diagnosed with lyme and cos, I had the feeling that my cheeks were being pulled down by gravity.
It gave me deep lines on either side of my mouth. I always looked like I was scowling. It was so bad looking that my husband and I discussed whether or not I should look into a face lift.
After 3 years of this, one morning I woke up and it was gone and my face was back to normal. That proves that what I had was a mild bilateral bells palsy.
It went away on its own a few years before I was diagnosed.
I was in my 40s when I had this.
So, depending on your age, this could well be facial drooping which is what the lyme symptom is called. The cause is a mild bilateral bells palsy.
You should never feel like your face is being pulled down by gravity.
Maybe in your 60s your mouth should go down at the corners. I don't believe you should ever drool unless a dentist has numbed your face.
The cure for bells palsy is good lyme treatment.

You are having problems with the 7 cranial/facial nerve. I saw an accupuncturist with a TENS machine that hooked up the muscle contracting bursts to the needles. I did this for 6 visits and also took high dose steroids, and no I don't want to hear from lurkers about the evils of steroids. It is the only thing to cut the inflammation of this nerve and prevent irreversible damage. Both modalities helped. See a llmd soon.

TF I am in my early 60's but I still don't feel like I should look this way. I don't feel like anything is pulling it down but the corners of my mouth just curve down. I hate it. It looks like you are never happy.
Foods has a tendence to get in the corners now also so I constantly have to check the mirror. I hate it if I forget and then someone comes into the room I am in and sees it. Makes you feel like you are so old.
Very interesting about the cranial/facial nerve. I would love to find someone here who would do that.
