My shoulders have been stiff and very tight for many, many years. This causes a lot of pain.

Does anyone know what will help with this problem?

My "frozen shoulders" was brought on when treating Babs for the first time. It eventually went away with all other joint pain and stiffness. I only have neuro and GI issues left (if that's not enough).

Try moist heat and simple stretching to loosen them up. Try simple yoga, pillates, or Tai Chi moves.

Maybe a good massage therapist could help.

Have you treated for babs? What ABX are you taking now?

I actually found sarsparilla somewhat helpful with muscle spasms in the shoulders and neck. It wasn't a miracle cure, but it did seem to help. I took the capsule form of it.

A rebounder (mini trampoline) does wonders. Even a slight bounce will hit every muscle in your body. Light punching moves while bouncing unfroze my shoulder.

Flexeril at bedtime will help too. But the trampoline became a must in my wellness arsenal and I try to hit it almost daily, even for just a couple minutes. It helps with detox and balance issues as well.

Lyme often hits a large joint. Mainstream docs will say it's always the knee, but they are wrong. The shoulders can get hit too. Years before I figured out I had Lyme, my shoulder froze overnight. Of course my worthless rheumatologist gave me steroid injections.

IMO all our joint pain is due to Bb infection. Get rid of the Lyme, and the pain goes away. Not completely, because there is permanent damage from years of spirochete-riddled joints. But get rid of the active infection and most of the pain goes.

I say this as a 64 year old man with the spine of a 90 year-old. But my pain level has gone WAY DOWN after 4 1/2 years of treatment.

Also, Celebrex was a miracle-drug for me before I started treatment for Lyme. I took the max dose 200mg twice a day. Now I take half as much.

I agree with Paul - gotta treat the infection responsible for the pain. When I started taking oral clindamycin, within a week's time, all my body pain, including shoulder pain went to zero.

Yes, mini trampoline is a great idea. I've started using one, got it from Walmart for about $30.

Another idea is to use pulsed electromagnetic therapy.

The SOTA Magnetic Pulser is wonderful for joint pain.

Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields influence cell behavior by inducing electrical changes around and within the cell.
Improved blood supply increases the oxygen pressure, activating and regenerating cells.

Improved calcium transport increases absorption of calcium in bones and improves the quality of cartilage in joints, decreasing pain dramatically.
Acute and even chronic pain -also caused by osteoporosis- may disappear completely.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went to my doctor and he is refering me to a surgeon. He says the Bursa needs looked at and the shoulder has alot of noise in it when it is mowed.

PLEASE consider getting a Magnetic Pulser for your shoulder.
It has a 30 day return, if bought from the company rather than from another vendor.

You may be able to avoid surgery.

Buhner recommends Stinging Nettle Leaf, 1200mg/day for Lyme-related joint pain and problems. The Nettle helps prevent joint damage from Lyme, reduces uric acid crystals (great for gout), and was used by Native Americans for arthrits. I can't use my hands without taking nettle leaf powder.

Also, for joint inflammation: MSM, Omega-3 Fatty Acids (Fish Oil), Turmeric, Boswellic acid (from Frankincense), castor oil hot packs, ginger, bromelain, and exercise (gentle) are all good things.

lpkayak,

I wouldn't recommend nettles if you are that sensitive to ragweed...
