Okay. Along with lyme, bart, and etc I have Babesia.
I will be starting soon a Quinine / Clindamycin treatment after I failed to tolerate Alinia.
My questions is, when treating Babesia, should the full malaria-type dose for the quinine be used with the clindamycin, or does a lesser dose of the quinine work?
Thanks. Hopefully somebody has tried this treatment route before and can share.

while on IV clinda , i was given a 7 day course of quinine to be taken over 14 days. I am going to tell you that the herx was horrible ( for me ) and it took my body about 6 weeks to clear. BUT it was so worth it . I never felt better than after that treatment.

I took IV Clindamycin and added Quinine. It was the worst herx I ever had too! Never had liver enzymes elevated until this herx.
I wouldn't and couldn't stay on this med. I can tolerate IV Clindamycin, as it's one of my favorite drugs, but not Quinine.
My recommendation is to start out really slow with Quinine. Maybe a half a pill. Also, if you haven't taken Clindamycin before orally, you may want to start with that and see if you can tolerate it, as it can give you GI issues. Then, after a week of Clindy, add in a small dose of Quinine.

Thank you for your experiences! Gives me hope.
Just curious, how many months or years did you have to do the clindy/Q 10 day rotations?

Take the lowest possible dosage of quinine so that it doesn't damage your ears. If they begin to ring too much, then you are taking too much.
good luck! I got well with this (and finished it off with ART and zith) .. I never took mepron
