No alcohol with the flagyl....just thinking about your trip...
You may not drink, but thought I would give you the info.
I think the dose is a good one for travel. Enough to hit it, but not enough to knock you down. Just my humble opinion.

The Road Back Foundation is all about using low dose minocycline for treatment. I found the site very interesting and if I decide at some point to go back on antibiotics I may persue that route.

I know a lot of people do not recommend low dose monotherapy but I say try something until it works.
I just can't tolerate high doses of multiple abx, at least not yet. This past month I have done relatively low dose mono and have felt the best I have in a long while.
Unfortunately, my monthly cycle has come along to ruin that and I feel awful for now.

I told my llmd he damn near killed me by giving me five yes five abx at one time. My liver and spleen almost shut down and my kidneys were acting up so we stopped. I also got massive gut problems from all that. I literally thought I was going to die.
Massive abx can sometimes do more harm than good. Yuck...

Is there a reason why you don't explore that? (Just wondering if you've seen those posts for you - or if you just don't want to explore that for some reason.)

i have milk thistle but not much else. the bottle says one per day but my llmd says i can take as much as i like.
hmmm, how much can you take??? and is there something else i can stuff in a suitcase?

- Dose parameters are discussed in articles of that thread.
It's not a matter of just taking more of one thing (such as milk thistle). The articles in the thread better explain approaches and it would be best if you could be guided by a LL ND.
There are many different ways to support your liver. Milk Thistle is just one of many. And some people do best with others. -

yes, randi, i went to a LLMD who started me out on lower doses. It was the only way i could tolerate things -- it took a couple years to build up my doses.

My diverticulitis is acting up again and has been for weeks. I. Told. Him my gastro said I could take this combination and he saI he also treats lyme. I have no choice really but to take it or suffer a dd attack on the trip. Sorry should have clarified that.
Am pretty upset over my only friend ann the one with hodgkins. She's not responsive now and has been this way until sunday. Her husband is talking about signing a do not resuscitate cause the drs are saying she will be severely handicapped.
Jus not thinking right now.....waiting for that phone call from him....

I'm so scared. She's the only one I can d really talk to around here. I have no other friends. .her husband is similar to mine so theyve had problems and she understands illness.
If anything does happen I'm going to be devastated. H we husband will hqve to sell a ton of stuff. They had the old whats mine is mine but I want yours too.
She told me that she changed skme things so he may be in for a rude awakening. What goes around comes around....

right now I am on low dose Doxy (100 mg a day, not even every day) after reading up on what they do for RA. The Road Back, mentioned above, is about RA.
This is after years of other things & 2 years with Dr. H. and his multi-ABX multi-everything approach, which got me over the hump but still left me suffering.
Anyway, low dose is helping - slowly, steadily. I read, I exercise when I can (swim, walk), I try to eat healthy but not always, I take vitamins & herbs.
I was taking Doxy with Tindamax for a couple of years and that combo worked great for me: now it has been a year on just low dose Doxy and I am holding steady so far.
Monthly B12 shots and adding high dose vit. D were also changes I made before going to low dose Doxy. Those changes also made a difference in how I feel.

I really want to try rife but can't afford it right now. It is something I am excited to try when I get the money. For now low dose and gradually upping is a lot better than nothing.

gigimac.. Can you round up $500? You can get a GREAT Rife machine worth $1000 for only $500. Mine has lasted 8 yrs now.

Unfortunately, no. There is no money right now.

I did low dose Doxy for over two years, after trying many other antibiotics. I did reach remission for 8 months. I felt so much better, but now may be relapsing. But I do believe that for some of us low dose does work. I'm thinking my problem now may be a co-infection or even something else like mono, etc.

I've done both. After doing high dose multiple abx.'s for a bit over a year my body said no more.
Now, I focus more on yeast and patasites and herbs for Lyme. I do pulse low dose abx.s when I begin feeling a flare coming on. So far so good with this approach.
Early on mono low dose abx.s did not help. Certainly needed high dose for a while and can now maintain on low dose prn
