I am on IV Flagyl and have noticed several tiny bumps that don't itch on one hand and wrist. Some of them dried up and are disappearing. I have no other symptoms that could be Stevens Johnson. Does it start like this? I am slightly concerned at this time, but want to be smart about this. Thank you.

I had this on my left hand. At first I attributed it to doxy and sun. I was on doxy and tinidazole at the time.
It was itchy and completely changed sensation in that hand while the blisters were there. A breeze felt like ice water drops-hot water felt like cold water etc.
But the hundred or so tiny blisters popped and then peeled and healed. It was on my left hand, which has been the side most affected by lyme. It took about 20 days for the skin to heal over completely, and I haven't had it since.

If you believe it may be Stevens Johnson's syndrome, then you should see your doc ASAP. It is a medical emergency.

I really don't know as I have no other symptoms and they have been there for over a week and a few more pop up each day. I am looking for opinions as it simply could be part of a herx and don't want to stop treatment for nothing. This is minor stuff compared to the pictures and what I have read about the syndrome, but who knows.
Thanks.

GretaM, you have given a perfect description of the doxy burn. Everything you said is exactly what happens when you get that burn.
The sensations with cold water and hot, wind, etc. The timeframe is the exact time it takes for it to go away. The tiny blisters and the red peeling skin, etc.
So, you can be assured that you had the doxy burn.
Do you put your left hand out the window when driving? Or do anything else that gives the left hand sun exposure that the right hand doesn't get?
Cattail: what are you on besides the flagyl?
See this website (under "Bactrim") for the symptoms that will cause an MD to say "stop" due to Stevens-Johnson syndrome:
In my experience, the docs look for fever and mouth sores to diagnose this syndrome. If you just have some type of rash, they tell you that you are OK. They really focus on the mouth sores especially.

Great answer and thanks for the info! Perfect. No fever and no mouth sores and this is my third week of Flagyl and fifth week of IV Rocephin. I am herxing like the devil right now, but no other issues except those bumps. IV is very easy for me to handle.
Thank you TF and GretaM

Cattail, try upping your detox. You can take Alka-Seltzer Gold with lemon juice daily, even 3 times per day. It works! Most feel better within an hour.
And, increase the amount of water and fresh lemons that you eat. This also works!
Water flushes everything out of the body and the lemon is God's natural cleanser.
Hope this helps you!

Yes, thank you. I am consuming large amounts of water and one lemon a day right now. I am taking epsom salt baths as well, but was told I cannot use my portable sauna because I should not sweat with the PICC. I cannot find the Alka-Selzer Gold in stores. Can you get it on line? Also, does the Alka-Selzer cause liver issues in itself?
Thank you.

I found it in a local drug store.
I have not researched Alka Seltzer Gold, but since Dr. H. of NY tells his patients to use it regularly for herxing and detox, it is hard to imagine that it would cause liver issues.

I have found it online and gonna get me some.
Thanks for all the info.
Off to see a very good Dermotologist tomorrow morning because the little bumps are spresding every time I wash my hands. I am thinking it could be fungal.

What did the blisters turn out to be?

They were a Dermatitis from a questionable outside source. I ended up with a burning, throat, eyes, privates, and nose. All the mucus memebranes and eyes burning and swollen and ithcy like sunscreen got in them (mini attacks that come out of nowhere).
Could this be a die off, herxing? My eyes are horrible and the rash is sort of just sitting there. Is this Bartonella?
I have to just live with it until it passes the Derm said. I have never had ellergies at all, but eye issues from Bart.
Thanks for asking, I was about to write!!!
