All righty then........
ANOTHER issue posed to my lyme family.
Tonight my 11 year old son had a good amount of blood on his TP after he pooped. He always gasps a lot to go. This isn't the first time.
He eats, I think, well.
I've been sick so were lacking a good grocery order.
When I get there, what do you all think I should get to loosten things? Any food that would be best? Some pedia thing...?
thanks as always,

Blood on the TP is either from a small fissure due to straining, or the lower colon. It should disappear in a day or two. If it doesn't, a doc visit would be appropriate.
Is he well-hydrated? Dehydration can cause straining.
The classic is prune juice, and it works. You could also give him a powdered magnesium drink.
Do you have a pediatric doctor? My pediatric GI put my kids on miralax and VSL. I know other children are some times put on stool softners when they are going to hard.
Best to you.

First Magnesium citrate to quickly loosen things up. Then Magnesium glycinate everynight to stay regular and would calm his nerves.

We've done both Miralax and magnesium and the Mg seems to work better and faster for us.

Sorry to take so long getting back.
Every day is a new surprise in feeling like &(&(*)(&)_. You never know when and how.
I also called the peds office.
They said fiber.
They said fruitand apple juice and yogurt, and if that fails then Miralax for a week half tablespoon a day.
If still bad then come see the doctor.
One of things I've noticed is sugar makes him more gassy.
Thanks for all the suggetions. I have added them to my list to try.
One thing at a time.
They also said activiabut my son says that's awful tasting.
So I said Kefir. He said ok.
ugh
