Has anyone committed to learning and consistently using meditation for OCD, hyperactivity, and memory issues?
Whether associated with Lyme or something else, has it helped?
I have read that it can change body chemistry and over time, brain structure. It can increase dopamine, serotonin, melatonin, increase focus, a sense of well-being....on and on.
I am trying to pursue this for my son.
He had one instruction on it, but it hasn't been enough for him to keep practicing it. I am trying to enlist the person that had shown this to him, and have him meet with my son for several sessions.
thanks loads,

I liked it so much after the free 10 day program, I signed up for the paid program.
There are probably free versions of meditation somewhere. I like this one because he teaches it in easy bits. I got my 16 yr old daughter to do it with me and it helped her.

I do meditation where you don't have to learn anything. You play CD's, you do have to go to a quiet space, sit or lay in a relaxed position, and be quiet.
But the CD's do the rest ... they play tones with differentials in the frequency, so the one ear gets one frequency, the other ear gets the other frequency, and the difference is sort of forced upon the brain and puts it into a meditative state.
I started out using Holosync brand, but then moved over to LifeFlow brand. Holosync you have to pay more as you go from one level to the next, the LifeFlow gives you all the levels in one purchase, so is cheaper in the long run for those who keep at it.
Absolutely it has helped me. Not sure I'd say it has helped with memory issues, but definitely has helped with detox, possibly with OCD issues (not sure as I've done other things and that's harder to see).

Did it heavily for 2 years at the beginning of being severely ill.
I declined during that time (both mentally and physically). I was hoping it would help, but it didn't. I eventually found doctors who were able to fix the issues.
I use some of the breathing, body awareness parts to relax but that's about it. No change in body chemistry that I found helpful.
I don't think it really did much to significantly improve my mind or health. Everyone is different though.

Thanks for the replies laxmom, Michael, and Judie.
I wanted something that was interactionary. In other words, with adult guidance. Distraction is at it's peak since he is 11.
I also wanted something he could draw upon anywhere he is. Something that doesn't require a tape. Some process that he can do alone that is "preprogrammed".
How did the process help to detox you Michael?
Wish the news were more encouraging.
thanks though

Many times when I would go to a new level (a new CD program), or start up again after a break, I would see myself needing much higher amounts of other supplements to support detox--like chlorella and ALA and vitamin C. I use energy testing to determine levels of supplements, some I test on a daily basis. It would also sometimes cause loose stools as well during these periods, which to me speaks to having more toxins circulating to deal with. So I would say somehow the meditation was getting the body to release toxins and circulate them for elimination, but I don't know how exactly it did that.

That's interesting Michael.
I think it makes sense. It sounds like it's releasing things in the brain, and muscle tissue as you relax.
I wish I understood muscle testing, and could do it with confidence.
I don't trust myself to interpret what appears to maybe be a response.
oh well
