I tried to search here but couldn't find anything after a few tries and my eyes and head are so painful that I cannot search any more- sorry if this is a repetitive question
thank you!

Coconut water for electrolyte replacement.
Avocadoes mashed with lime and cumin and garlic, salt for magnesium, fiber, healthy fats.
Use cucumber sticks to eat the avocaodo mash with, as cukes have high water content.
Soft boiled eggs. (gluten free toast on the side)
Plain whole milk yogurt with fresh or frozen bluberries. (Greek yogurt has more protein)
The cold yogurt and partially frozen blueberries may feel nice.
I am normally so nauseated I don't eat, so I am having a hard time suggesting foods.
Hope you're better soon.

Lisa, I think I am having a migraine today too. I woke up with the most profound head ache.
Shortly after, I had some visual loss followed by the 'aural migraine' symptom of a kaleidoscope on one side of my field of vision for about 15 minutes. It was so scary. This is the second time this has ever happened to me.
I have no clue what foods are good or bad for migraines but I would like to follow this thread to learn more! Hope you feel better.

I've had chronic migraine my whole life. I keep a batch of organic chicken soup in the freezer for headache days. Here's my recipe:
Organic chicken breasts celery onion ( a lot) carrots garlic (a lot) crushed red pepper to taste (a lot) bay leaf sea salt pepper pinch of thyme 3 or 4 quarts of organic chicken stock put everything in a pot and simmer for an hour or so. Take the chicken out and shred it, then return to soup. Enjoy. Freeze in individual glass containers for days when you don't feel well.

Migraines run in my family. Chocolate was a trigger food for my aunt, and peppers caused my brother to get them.
Never could figure out what caused mine.
Caffeine helps me; I have read that it helps to constrict the swollen blood vessels that cause the headaches.
Also, an ice pack and a dark room.

Try frozen peas or ice pack at the base of your skull or wherever it hurts on your head. I do Epsom salt baths, too. Then ice. Really watch the preservatives, msg, "natural flavors" also, bananas, orange, raw onion, lunch meat, and of course sugar. Hope you feel better!

When I'm out of soup and can't cook, sometimes I'll just heat up chicken stock and add garlic powder, sea salt, pepper, cayenne, and green onions if I have it. Something about really hot chicken soup that makes my headache subside.

Lisa, I had lyme for 20+ years and caffeine never bothered me.
I guess some of us don't tolerate it very well.

Have you ever tried magnesium?? I used to have horrible migraines.
They stopped when I got well from Lyme and babesia. Well, it may have been from either of those, but I find it happily strange that they disappeared.
I've been wondering if my higher intake of magnesium during treatment is part of the answer? Don't take mag oxide... take mag glycinate, or citrate, something that the body can absorb.
Might also be due to the fact that yeast is under better control .. I just have been wondering. It's not due to being past menopause because I had migraines way past my hysterectomy.

Lisa, magnesium helps me too, as more of a preventive. But do you have a script for when it gets real bad? Axert has really helped me.
Btw... I've been craving pears too!!! Totally out of the blue. I wonder what's in them that we need? I know they are one of the highest fiber fruits.

Do you have a rx for a triptan med. for when you get a migraine? It's the only thing that takes it away for me once it starts. My Nuerologist says treat the h/a until it's gone. So he tells me to take one naratriptan + rx. strength motrin and then another naratriptan if it doesn't go away within an hour. If I don't take enough at onset the h/a lingers. I also take a lot of Magnesium and turmeric and curcumin + b vitamins (with food). I woke up with a horrible h/a today. Posts: 143 | From Pittsburgh | Registered: Jan 2014

I would consider a coffee enema or even a warm water enema to release toxins from the colon. There is a brain/gut connection and enemas are an old remedy for migraines

Try very low dose Ginger and PLP/P5P (form of B6) - 50mg by Now (their formulation *contains B2 which helps B6 work and Mg*). It is, IMO, superior than that made by other supplement companies.
Ginger...too much and "nighty night" - can make you sleepy.
Ginger is a PDE4 inhibitor. Reduces inflammation.
I am confident...the above was told to me by a neurologist who recommends it for "migraine seizures".
Here are links to the two supplements (they are safe):
If the cause is "aldehydes"...drink a Sprite. I'm not kidding. Aldehydes can also be a result of alcohol -> "hangover headache". Chinese researchers just found Sprite helps a lot.
Chinese people cannot process alcohol well, thus the need to find a "work - around" to prevent the headaches.
