I have had two western blot tests that have been positive. Is this a definite lyme disease diagnosis? I have just went through two weeks of IV antibiotics called rocephin. I went back to doctor, they did no further blood tests and informed me the lyme has been taken care of. They are now treating me for arthritis with methotrexate. Along with the predisone and naproxen I am taking. What are your thoughts?

Yikes, it sounds like you were under treated.
It took someone I know 7 months until IV rocephin got the Lyme symptoms at bay.
Antibiotics are now being given to people with arthritis. It's more effective than the cocktail you're on (which is just going to make Lyme and probably the co-infections you have worse).

Oh my gosh, ditto to everything Lymetoo and Judie just said!! I know someone who needed 10 or 11 months of IV rocephin. Everyone is different.
You need a real LLMD. You can post in Seeking A Doctor and folks will help you figure out where you can go.
Btw, taking turmeric powder does well for my arthritis - it's a simple anti-inflammatory treatment. I get the turmeric powder in bulk at the healthfood store and put it in capsules.

Does the Dr feel it's not necessary to verify or prove that the lyme has been killed off? How is that scientific? What is the basis for that supposition?
Unfortunately when Drs say "medicine is an art" it means "I don't have time for science".
I agree with Lymetoo. Get a new Dr.

Methotrexate is the reason my lyme is now chronic.
Please please please do yourself the biggest honour in the world and find a new doctor ASAP.
2 weeks of IV rocephin is NOT enough. Period.
I say this from personal experience.
2 weeks is not even a full cycle of lyme, and rocephin does not address all forms of lyme.
So the lyme that was not killed by the rocephin is now being ENABLED by the methotrexate AND prednisone to enter other systems of your body.
Methotrexate and prednisone are immunosuppressive. Probably your immune system was the only thing preventing Bb and coinfections from attacking all your systems.
I'm so sorry.
The same thing happened to me.
12 years later.
16 misdiagnoses.
32 specialists.
Hundreds of thousands on medications and support therapies for diseases I never had.
Bb turned into neuro lyme from these a-holes and their methotrexate and steroids.
I struggle on the bad days to form words and to swallow.
I get disoriented on the bad days in a building I have lived in for 10 years.
Half my face droops and the left side of my body fails.
I lose vision in my eyes.
You don't want to end up where I am. Ever.
Please go to Seeking a doctor and post for a doctor in a nearby state.
An LLMD or LLND will save your life. Literally.

Thank you all for the info. I believe I need to get to a LLMD as soon as possible. This has been going on for a year or more.

Yes please do Bellis.
Once Bb got into my CNS and PNS my day to day has been really tough.
I have been treating for 11 months Burrascano style IV plus oral, plus Buhner tinctures and Byron White herbals.
When I stopped all for a week, just one measly week, everything came crashing down and I returned to square one again.
If you can see an LLMD/LLND and start treating before Bb goes into all your systems, you will have a better chance at beating it

Methotrexate has a side effect of death, that turned my friend off from taking it. Try lifestyle changes and other alternative measures before you commit to taking that for the rest of your life in my opinion (and his).
