Oh dear.... Doing really well lately and want to keep it that way!

I posted before about this but am scheduled to have a molar extraction next week. Scared it will make me flare or send me back into the tbi vortex. I have put this off for a while now.

Tooth is not infected but is fractured at the root and has hurt for years (previously root canaled and crowned). I just want it out. My oral surgeon is aware of my Lyme history and my llmd is on board w/ the extraction.

Plan is to start Clindamycin a few days before the extraction and stay on for a couple of weeks.

Just scared I guess.....Anyone else have an extraction during or after Lyme treatment?

[group hug]

Before lyme dx, but with lyme.

3 wisdom teeth extractions-one was broken and into another healthy tooth.

Think I was given amoxicillin? I declined painkillers.

Did NOT flare any symptoms.

Great - thanks GretaM:).

I have been putting it off but need to get it out. Nice to hear you did not flare with your 3 extractions. That's pretty good.... I'm feeling pretty good/strong so keeping fingers crossed!

Allergic to penicillin. Llmd feels clindamycin would be good coverage for any dental related Lyme flares that might occur and oral surgeon uses it for prevention of dental infections. I guess a win-win?

Thanks dogsandcats! I feel fortunate to be well enough to have the extraction. Now I can get to those "back burner" things.

I think I need to wait 24 hour before the salt water rinses..

I may have 2 molars taken out tomorrow

Yhe dentist is not the slightest bit LL

I dont have an llmd now

My primary not LL

The ortho who replaced my knees has me take 2000 mg keflex once an hr before any dental work

Does this seem , like enough?

They do tell you to eat soft foods at first and then swish with salt water

They have my written history but they dont know me at all and i dont know them-but i do know they rarely put metal fillings in-but i dont think.they are careful when taking them out

I need the teeth out...i am afraid of infection spreading tomy knees...but i wonder if that amount of keflex is enough and i wonder if i should do one at a time or both together

I have no one to help if i get really sick-i guess im getting cold feet

I believe a lot of oral surgeons will give abx.s post extraction for preventative measures. Mine does, but if he did not then my llmd would.

Perhaps you can ask your dentist to give you abx.s post op?

If you are worried about infection spreading to your knees ask your ortho- he/she would know better then anyone.

I have a titanium plate in the back of my head but my neuro never mentioned anything about dental infection spreading there. Now you have me wondering.....

Anyway, if it were me I would speak to or tho doc.

i had a molar extracted 4 weeks ago....there was some lingering pain....i was already on abx for some kind of upper respiratory thing....but my dentist didn't offer abx or pain killer, told me to take ibuprofen

interesting this is that the hole has not covered up....it's supposed to heal from bottom up but there still is a significant cavity that food gets caught in...and if it touch the rim of bone, there's pain....

the dentist says no dry socket but he's puzzled why the hole hasn't filled in....he says i must have slow healing physiology....
