I know that minerals are needed for detox. But does anybody know how much to take exactly? And also to take everyday? Because I've read that you can take too many.
I wouldn't doubt that the dosages are different for each type and brand as well. I plan on buying just a regular liquid bottle I guess.
I can't find this answer anywhere else.
Thanks...

I'm not sure about a mixed mineral pill.
Probably from the high end vitamin companies.
The ones I've found in my local health food store aren't the right mix for me.
I build my minerals separate.

I see you are new here, welcome.
Minerals and all supplements are a trial and error thing. Most people just follow the bottle and hope they are doing the right thing. So it takes a while to find what works for people (blood tests, how one feels, co infections, etc).
I felt bad sometimes (following the bottle) until I started testing energetically to find my dosage. I also periodically get blood tests to make sure I'm on track--to my surprise, the muscle testing works.
Prior to muscle testing, I would periodically get a call from my doc's office telling me to lay off of something.
If I were you, I would learn how to muscle test. It's easy (you tubes and some threads here). There are also practitioners who will do it for you to help determine the best dosage for you.
You can always keep a journal to find out what works for you.

- As you mentioned . . . Some minerals (magnesium is one) cannot be taken all at once and must be in divided doses throughout the day. The reason for this is that kidney damage can occur and the full dose can't be absorbed, anyway. Just like food, divide the nourishment.
But, the total magnesium daily dose NEED can vary very widely from one person to the next. The kind also really matters. Magnesium Bis-Glycinate is a good form.
It may be best to start here, reading all the articles you can. Many also talk about other minerals, too, and then you can explore other minerals more with some of the same authors here - and also search for works by Alan Gaby, a doctor whose focus is on nutrients.
and ALWAYS talk to your LL doctor, too because there may be some specifics to your case -- and he/she can tell you which brands they like:
It looks like I'll wait until I get some testing done to supplement with them. In the meantime, what about mineral water? Is that even enough to do anything or can you get too much of that as well?
Thanks again for the replies..

- I think (most) commercially bottled mineral water is a waste. The mineral content is minimal to our requirements. We can get better minerals from good food, IMO.
It's usually in plastic bottles, anyway. Especially in the summer, those cannot avoid getting hot, all the more able to (word? leech?) petroleum chemicals into the water and create hormone disruption. Best to never drink anything is a plastic bottle.
Even in glass, if you want mineral water, you have to really research the source, and look deeper to be certain of that. Some are not at all what we think. Some may be just fine, yet the cost is not usually something we can keep up with.
Now, if you have a hot minerals natural spring nearby, and if they sell drinking water, that can be a different as some can be very nice. Still, a lot of study first, though. -

My doc had me take something called "energy boost" to try to give me more energy. I didn't get more energy, but I noticed the product was full of minerals.
It's made by Morningstar Minerals. I took it everyday (used the cap the measure it).

Or perhaps something like Judie had mentioned above instead of taking single minerals.
I've heard they're required to take during saunas or epsom salt baths especially but theres little information on dosages etc. I also heard they can have side effects?
I even came accross info that said they can have chelating tendencies which I'm not sure of. Correct me if wrong.
Or would it just be better to take a regular multi-vitamin/mineral supplement you can buy from pretty much anywhere?

I don't know if you're trying to chelate or not.
My doc is very cautious about chelating with me (I've already been through a course of it a long time ago and she also doesn't think it would be wise for my brain).
She never wants me to take a high dose of alpha lipoic acid because at higher doses, she says it can chelate the brain and cause a dumping of more problems.
I'm pretty sure the Morningstar one I recommended should be okay. It was very mild, but I did take it with a lot water and food or I felt a little nausea (tolerable nausea, went away fast, but food made me not experience that).

Definitely not trying to chelate. That's my main concern.
By the way, I checked out the "energy boost" you recommended and to my knowledge that has a chelating amino acid blend in it. I don't know if it's enough to really do anything but another very similiar brand (I forget which) mentioned "chelating" pointing at that same exact amino blend.
I could be wrong but I also don't want to advise you to stop taking it.

Oh, I stopped taking it awhile back. My doc was hoping it would give me energy (I wasn't taking it specifically for mineral replacement).
It didn't help with energy so we stopped. It didn't seem to hurt anything either.
I think there's just a trace amount of stuff in there. I have a really bad allergy to nickel and silver. Both are in there and I had no reactions that I typically get from my allergy.
