so I have been treating and responding well. getting "better", everything seemed to be gettting better.
about 10 years ago I had a terrible bout of crazy hormone symptoms. hair loss, 2 periods in each month, crazy irratic behavior, PMS out of this world, etc.
this was before dx of course.
I saw many drs for all this with opinions ranging from perimenopaus to pregnancy, yes, can you believe it? one idiot told me my hair was falling out because I used a blow dryer.
anyway. sorry, I am just so mad lately.
so no, after feeling great the last month, and having regular wonderful cycles for the last year since doing treatments of abx in the beginning and now herbals, etc., I
am having a continual period for the last 2 full weeks with no end in sight! and it is so different than my usual MO. I didn't get cramps til this week. and no headache either until today.
I feel very run down and maybe thinking I need iron or other vit to help replenish this blood loss
??????
any help or nice words?
I gues I will see dr, but which one? OBGYN or llmd.? or GP?
who wants to deal with this on top of everything else? not me. I keep hoping it will go away.

YES!
Should have bought shares in Stayfree because I am spending on $30 a month just to keep up.
Last few months been getting period twice in 30 days.
Then last month had ZERO PMS and ZERO sore boobs and period was late by two weeks.
Boobs continue to grow. They hurt all the time. Now bras cost $170 because I can't shop at department stores for my size.
Hair is getting thinner and is now straight. Pre treatment it was curly as heck...
I just can't keep up with these body changes.
Doing a hormone panel test with my LL next week.
I feel irritable as heck but equate that with bartonella.
I'm sorry you are getting a non stop period.
A non LL doc may suggest progesterone pills. Just a caution it made things worse for me when I tried that years ago for a never ending period.
I sometimes feel like I am going thru a second puberty.
Argh.
Can totally empathize and sympathise with you LisaK!
These bugs just wreak havoc on our hormone system.

Lisa are you middle aged? This started for me in my 40s (pre menopause). The run down feeling is probably some anemia.

After 20 years of PCOS (before Lyme), I finally gave up on the endocrinologist and ob/gyn. All they wanted to do with give me birth control pills, diuretics and a diabetes med even though I didn't have diabetes.
A naturopathic doctor helped me with polycystic ovaries (I had the opposite problem, no periods for months). No cysts at all anymore. There's no cure for this is conventional medicine.
I was regular for 10 years until I got Lyme.
I had the 2 periods per month bull**** after that.
The first time I was infected with Lyme a TMC (traditional chinese medicine) doctor straightened out the periods.
When I got reinfected, I went to see a LLND. She was able to fix the problem with herbs and boluoke.
Good luck. There are ways to fix this.
Here's a link to Naturopathic Doctors. I'd find one that specializes in women's issues.

Robin, yes, my thyroid is messed up. and my adrenals if that matters.
I am def in the range for starting menopause, but it's just so strange...... months and months of on time, 4 day periods and now all of a sudden one that won't stop.
I calle dmy couple of friends that have had this. they both said drs put you on birth control. I really don't want that.
I stopped at the healthy food store today and saw a new product and got it to try. It is called SLOW FLOW. haha. I liked the sound of that!
It has: vit A, C, K1 , plus bioflavanoids, ginger root , yarrow flower , Shepherd's Purse aerial parts, cranesbill root, periwinkle herb and life root herb extract. never heard of some of these.
it says on bottle developed by Dr Tori Hudson , a naturapathic dr specializing in women's natural health.
we shall see.
I really don't want scrapings or chemicals or whatever. plus I have no money to see a dr.
Greta, second puberty- that's funny. me too. I have pimples now and never had them as a teen! arg.
I also am a carrier for hemochromatosis and tend to have lots of iron. I was thinking maybe I had a large amount of iron that my body is getting rid of. now I am craving raisins and pumpkin seeds.

I take vitex (by physiologic, 1 cap in the morning before food) and women's chamber (by Kan, 1 cap, 2X a day). Both are pretty cheap if you shop around.
These fixed the overflowing, period blues. Fixed it in less than a month.
The are some very positive reviews on pureformulas.com for Slow Flow. The last one talks about combining it with other things like vitex.

You might try the enzymes like serrapeptase or Wobenzym.

Yes, both adrenals and thyroid matter - you could even use the Search function here and read what people have done for both -

robin , I love the search function and use it often, but most of the time there is just too much info and I cannot get through all of it to make any headway. thanks though. I do have stuff to take for both those issues that I have been neglecting.

Anything that breaks up clots seems to help the duration of my period be less (still heavy flow, but less days and I figure my body is just clearing just clearing stuff out).
I take boluoke, but it's very expensive. Helps with other issues though too.

how does one find a good acupunturist? ugh, I have no money.....
good sense Judie.
and I agree, my body must need to clear this out, but boy o boy.
I heard from gyn yest. they said to get a female dr I have to wait until Oct. 10th.
I could have a nurse practitioner or PA right away, but my experience with those has been tainted.
so today still heavy flow. I wonder how long the Slow Flow takes to work? I guess I will use that until the apt date.
what is depleated with this blood loss? what should I take more of to feel more alive?

Word of mouth is the best way to find a good acupuncturist. Ask people at your drs office, dentist, hair dresser, etc. Actually, hair dressers know just about everyone, so that might be a good place to start.
Also, there are acupuncture clinics that are less expensive. The difference in price is that you are in a room with others getting their acupuncture at the same time. You can see them, and they you. This didn't bother me, and I still got the treatment I needed.
If you want to thin the flow in the meantime, aspirin works well. As far as depleted, the heavy long term flow depleted my iron. I needed more protein, carbs and rest.
Hang in there Lisa.

Catgirl, I am a retired hairdresser, so I don't have one! haha I do my own hair. but I get what ou are saying. I will ask around.
I def feel the need for rest. I am not craving protein at all. but I noticed I do want carbs.
It seems like the Slow Flow is helping. the flow is definitely lighter. I am so glad. you become a slave to this!

I am 37 and also had hormonal issues secondary to
Lyme. In addition to my LLMD I see a physician
who does natural bio-identical hormone
replacement therapy and functional medicine. She
understands Lyme because her 19 year old has
chronic Lyme too and is getting treatment, but
that was a coincidence. I had several spit
analyses that revealed all my sex hormones were
basically nonexistent. I too spent half the month
having my cycle. I take DHEA, Testosterone and
Estrogen Creams and Progesterone supplements as
well as a couple of supplements to help adrenal
function. My hormone levels are better upon
testing and I am bleeding less not quite back to 7
days more like 10.

Oh my... I hope you all find some solution. After years visiting lymenet, I know many women will have menstrual cycle problems, and most docs will put you on the pill.
I threw mine after I thought for a while: never had any problem before lyme, then now, they want to solve that problem with hormones????
Lyme affect many hormones, that is sure. Since lyme got dormant, so ended my problems. of course now, reaching 50, I start to have funny 'symptoms' though.
But certainly lyme affects the cycle and hormones, and certainly, the pill will just give you the 'look' you are fine (like covering your white hair making you feel younger...).
But it won't solve the problem from the root.
Continue treating, lyme, hormones, supplements, adrenals, whatever, detoxing. Things will get better when lyme gets better (unless menopause starts).
Good luck!

I have always had horrible hormonal issues since my teenage years and I am sure they were exacerbated by lyme.
I have tried many, many things from birth control pills to herbs to supplements to hormonal creams, oils and pills.
My blood/saliva profiles showed my hormones to be way out of whack but taking the pills flared all my lyme symptoms significantly so I would back off.
This past month I did three new things: 1) took 1 teaspoon of maca powder/day 2) did seed cycling- tablespoon each flaxseed and pumpkin seed first 14 days of cycle/tablespoon each sesame and sunflower seed second 14 days of cycle 3) took multivitamin with herbs to support womens issues called vita-min-herb by Synergy.
Maca powder is an adaptogen that balances hormones. The research and anecdotal data on it is strong. It made my boobs tender from day 3 on. It is pretty inexpensive.
Seed cycling is a naturopathic method. If you google it there are some articles and blog posts about it. My new doc said it seems goofy but really works.
The Synergy company has good supplements that I trust.
I am happy to report that this month I had a NORMAL 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14. This seems like a miracle for me. I have a history of pcos, ovarian cysts, 35-45 day cycles, horrific menstrual migraines, pmdd, 10 day periods, etc.
I am hopeful I am getting a hold on these hormonal issues. Will be interesting if my body is responsive again next month.
Look into maca and seed cycling. It could help! Hugs to all.

mbdq, that is interesting about the seeds. I CRAVED pumpkin seeds when this started 2+ weeks ago and ate them nonstop for 2 days.
UPDATE::
I have taken the SLOW FLOW for 3 days and the blood has stopped!!!!
yay yay yippie yay.
May be coincedental, but worth the try to anyone out there with this heavy issue. I will see how next month goes an dlet you all know if anything strange happens.
thanks a bunch everyone and good luck to all with this plight.

Right on Lisa!
I forgot to mention for anyone interested, muscle testing has helped me SO MUCH when supplementing for women's issues. I never knew if I should take progesterone creams, gels, or other supplements (family history of cancer).
Muscle testing gives me the answers (quick and easy). I've had blood tests done to make sure I'm on track, and my test results have been spot on. It helps because I'm not throwing my money away on stuff that won't work for me. Before muscle testing I was flying blind.

When I was really irregular in the past- when I was undiagnosed with lyme- I got periods 2x a month for like 7-10 days each.
no dr knew how to help me or what to say.
I happened to read something by accident and can't remember even where I read it. it said if you have thyroid problems, almonds and corn are the 2 biggest problem causers for messing up thyroid more. I was eating tons of almond milk and almond and corn flour because of allergies to cowmilk and wheat.
that I stopped eating those 2 things and in 3 days my hair stopped falling out and my periods were regular after that-
that was a few years ago. now all of a sudden I get that again? doesn't make sense to me unless it is finally now the menopause catching up with all this.
my grandmother was only 40 when she stopped getting her periods.
I am guessing I may be really messed up with my body trying to figure itself out here after all this lyme stuff???
I am jsut glad the Slow Flow seemed to work right away. gonna make sure I have that on hand from now on
