I found myself on the after hours line at 5 am in tears talking to the NP on call at my LLMDs office.

I'm at the tail end of my first 4 cycles with Mepron, Arteminsin + my usual abx and then added in, Xylitol and Lactoferrin last week and bad went even worse! Given my response the assumption is that I have Babesia despite it not showing up yet.

I have barely slept in 3 nights. Not even knowing what to call them my "brain blips" have come back day and night and at night they just turn my brain on over and over. I was making it through the night on one Intermezzo at bedtime and last night I had taken 3 by 1 am (which is equal to 1 full strength Ambien) and barely made it to 5.

Then there is the central pain, noxious feeling which is so hard to describe but unbearable. It floods me when I become conscious. It seems to slowly get better as the day wears on but when it hits, agony!

Mepron blues, agitation I have it all....

I am waiting for a call around noon with changes to meds and it sounds like I may have to go off abx for a few weeks and try to stabilize...

I think they are going to recheck adrenal function/cortisol too...

Now, how to make it through another day. Rest = Pain for me...)-:

Ambien nearly killed me. I know there is a lot to consider here and you may not want to hear that. Some do okay with it but even a tiny, tiny dose nearly killed me in more ways than one. It very messes with the way the brain work - and it messes with the brain's sleep "computer" too.

Take care.

Hope it passes soon! [Smile]

Xylitol?? For what?

Make sure you are keeping your magnesium levels high.

Xylitol is for biofilm treatment. They rx it with lactoferrin.

My appointment is on Friday but in the meantime they prescribed Dronabinol (Medical Man made Marijuana) for sleep and Lorazepam for central pain.

Keebler I certainly share some concern about the Ambien, but my brain went nuts when I got sick with Lyme/Babesia before I ever tried Ambien. It was doing the same thing then too with the electrical stuff, subcortical seizures according to LLMD and turning on over and over again. It's so hard to know what is what? And what to do because my symptoms are so severe...

A neurologist gave me the Ambien months before my Lyme diagnoses from LLMD and then I tried to switch to Neurontin or antidepressants for sleep with no success.

I still take Neurontin but low dose during the day. They want me to try that at night too again.

It's a mess really and I just want to sleep!!!

Let's hope for a better night...

I had that on me prob. Not pain it's like an excruciating feeling of fear or anxiety or nervous state. Hard to describe but it was unbearable. It's why I quit Mepron at 4 months.

Everyone one of the sleep or antidepressants used for sleep also harmed me in major ways . . . and over the years - many years ago - they were all tried at one time or another, even if very tiny, tiny doses, they all messed me up big time in many ways. Most caused me to feel suicidal.

Some caused vertigo, some inability to cope in odd ways by messing with balance (those ototoxic drugs also caused tinnitus and sensitivity to sound).

Some caused dry eyes and dry mouth -- and therefore, gum & tooth disease.

I am so glad to now - for at least 15 years - to be free of any chemical knock out drugs. I found other ways that work with my body, to nourish it so as to allow sleep, not force it with chemicals that really stress the liver, adding to the cycle.

If you do take any Rx, though, be sure your liver and kidney support is tip top shape.

Keebler- Did you have the same intense neurological symptoms like I'm having when you tried to sleep? Did the more natural approach to sleep decrease those symptoms? I can be intensely drowsy but all the jerks of body and brain may as well be someone poking me to wake up every time I drift off.
