Howdy All! It's been 9 days since I was notified of my positive Lyme test and that many days on Doxy 200mg bid.
I know your skin is more sensitive to the sun when on certain abx but I guess I underestimated the affects...I sat out at the park watching my son today. Being mindful I wore long pants, a long shirt and a hat.
About 90 minutes in my hands started tingling then slowly started to feel like they were literally burning. Then my feet started. For the next 2 hours or so I was in a decent amount of pain until the burning slowly subsided.
My hands and feet are still very sensitive to heat nearly 6 hours later. So intense. I have never felt anything like this before. I wont forget to cover my hands and feet again.
Does sunscreen help with this sensitivity to the sun or do the abx decrease the effectiveness?
And, whats going on with my bowel movements? I swear I am pooping twice as much as usual. Is it weird that I am envisioning mass amounts of dead bacteria being extruded from my body? Ewwwe, by the way.
I have upped my magnesium which I know leads to loose stool but don't think it's all the mag. Any thought?
I keep expecting to get a yeast infection. I have every time I have been on abx(which was rare for me). I am keeping diligent with my pro-biotics from many forms to keep me healthy and I am sure that has made all the difference.
I have also cut out wheat (gluten), sugar (mostly), alcohol, caffeine and dairy. Phew!!
Mid-April (1st LLMD appt)seems like a long way off. Thanks for keeping me company

Darn, forgot to mention the biggest news of all....
I have had this "mystery" pain in my right leg. I have seen 2 doctors to try and diagnose. End result from them was pain management or get another opinion.
Well.....I know believe what I was feeling was nerve pain caused by the Lyme.
And, 3 days ago it started to go away. I would say I am about 75% relieved. Holy Cow!!! I am so happy about this because it has been such a drain on me to be in constant pain. I have not been able to drive with that foot and I have had to keep it straight most of the time or it would really flare up.
I am also anxious about it coming back once I stop the abx.

Good job on the diet!! It's hard for most people to get with the program on that.
Yes, the doxy can really do a number on the skin. Be sure to wear long sleeves and cover up as much as you can. Best to just stay out of the sun until you are able to stop the doxy.
The effects of the doxy can last at least 10 days after stopping the med, by the way.
I THINK sunscreen helps, but it's still a battle .. so be careful. I never took doxy for very long, so I'm not sure.
Be SURE to take doxy in the MIDDLE of a FULL meal or your stomach can crash... do NOT lie down for at least 45-60 min after taking it.
Keep taking those probiotics and I would suggest taking them 2 hrs away from the antibiotics or the abx will cancel them out. Since you are having diarrhea, then I would get some s.boulardii .. or Florastor to add to the other probiotics.
You may already have yeast/candida in the gut .. hence the diarrhea.
I'm so glad the nerve pain is getting better! YAY!!!

No diarrhea actually. Just twice as many BM's. That's why I thought to mention it. I am eating more veggies but less food overall.
The more I read the more angry and frustrated I get with, what I call, the politicalness of this disease. There seems to be so much evidence of its existence but yet we are denied.
Saw some facts on the money trail in regards to who holding patents and which board members have serious conflicts of interest. Why isn't this as apparent to everyone else?
As with so many thing in our "free" world....it all comes down to money.

Kclymon, kudos on the diet change! Not easy for most.
BM increase not unusual with the diet change and antibiotics (the bacterial dieoff).
Per the sun sensitivity, it got really bad for me at times on Doxy. Definitely cover up and wear the sunscreen! Kheils makes some great sunscreen I love for face (and hands) that didn't bother my sensitive skin.
Also found that Calendula oil worked great for alleviating that burning feeling. California Baby makes a Calendula lotion that's really soothing, or MountainRoseHerbs.com carries a good Calendula oil.
