First off, sorry for the many questions of late. I think this is the last one.
Im taking my abx for dentist appointment and I'm using charcoal for detox.
If I take charcoal the night before and see the dentist at 2 pm the next day the charcoal won't say prevent novacaine or anything from working right?
Also, I hear the standard for taking activated charcoal for detoxing after abx is two hours.
If I wanna make sure I am absolutely getting all the meds before I detox the herx reaction should I wait longer?
Once again I am sorry for all the questions but this dentist appointment has been the most stressful thing since I gave birth 5 yrs ago, maybe worse, LOL

I wouldn't think its effect would last longer than a few hours. You could ask your pharmacist to be sure.
Good luck!

I have the same type of anxiety you are describing, gigmac! I wait until after the dental work to take any binders like charcoal or chlorella. I would be afraid that it might affect the anesthetic (Novocain or other types) from working properly. I have also read that Vit. C should not be taken prior to anesthesia.
Also, during the week before dental surgery, I don't take anything that thins the blood, such as fish oil, vinpocetine and enzymes that are known to break up biofilms such as serrapeptase or natokinase.
If I can find an article I read about this, I will try to paste the link. Good luck with your dental work!

I plan on taking it 8 to 12 hrs before appointment. If I can feel my medicine kick in two hours after I take it then I think 12 hrs should be enough I hope.
Really don't want to get my tooth pulled while herxing badly. This is awful enough already

This must be the month for getting teeth pulled as several of us seem to be going through it. I just had my first ever tooth pulled on Wednesday.
I never even thought about medication timing. I just did everything like normal ahead of time. I didn't stop blood thinning meds, etc. I was taking antibiotics for bronchitis.
One thing - the night after the extraction, I couldn't take all my meds because it hurt and I was worried about the water swishing over the extraction and disturbing the healing process (had probably read too many warning about dry socket). So if there are meds you need, you may want to take them before the appt if possible.
The other thing is that my stomach was a little off for a couple of days after the extraction. I read that this is because you swallow blood. So I skipped non-crucial meds for a couple of days.
I was really pleasantly surprised at how little it hurt. I have been doing fine with OTC ibuprofen.
