Hi: Can anyone tell me that if you are showing

new bands (April 2016 vs. August of 2010) if it

is always indicative of a new infection or could

it be the first test did not pick up the bands

this one did. Thank you for any and all help. I

appreciate it more than I can say.

If you've had Lyme you'll always have the antibodies in your system somewhere so there's no way to tell. I think the testing is so unreliable that you'll always have a different test on a different day, whether it's two weeks or six years later.

I don't think there's a difference medically between a re-infection or a relapse. In a relapse you're going to see the same thing as you would if you were newly infected, since what's happening is that sleeping Lyme is waking up. When it wakes up it makes sense your body might have a different response than it did the first time.

Thank you, Jordana. This helps. I also found this.... you might find this interesting:

https://lymedout.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/i-dont-think-you-have-lyme-because-your-results-says-positive-igm-and-not-igg/

I think it confirms all of what you are saying. It brings me peace because how in the world I would be reinfected when I don't even walk in my back yard (embarrassed to say that.... it has been 8 years that I was bitten). Thank you so much for your time and care in answering this. It definitely eased my mind!! My very best -- Willbeatthis

It could be your immune system is kicking in and more bands are showing up. Sometimes the sickest people won't have any bands because their immune system isn't fighting it at all.
