I recently found out about this product as a way to increase protein intake (dissolves in water):

But I know that Borrelia likes collagen. Is this going to feed the Borrelia or will it be good for all my collagen tissues that have been degraded by Lyme?

It can stop you up but i take with fiber and mag ..it is usualky bovine. And may help the rebuilding .gotta keep the house up while its on fire...thanks for the reminder ,i will add back i have been so focused on killing

That's an excellent question. I put it in the 'what came first, the chicken or the egg' category.

I've not seen any studies offering answers for this question that I've also had, but then I haven't looked under all the covers either.

Is there a different protein source you could use? Personally I hesitate building collagen because of the possibility it will feed the spirochetes, but I have no backing to promote that possibility, just an unsettled feeling and "what if" scenarios running thru my mind.

Dr K says that if you take collagen it's food for the spirochetes so they don't eat yours.

This is my latest area of research.

My 5 year battle of tick bite has left me with severe collagen and skin loss. I have regained back lots of muscle loss through exercise, weight resistance training and now through swimming.

My skin is crape-like, wrinkled, shinny, shriveled. I can't help but to think that if damage is done to the outside, it must be happening to the inside. Time to address this next hurdle but not before I throughly know exactly how to proceed.

Dr H recommends Regenamax.
Ingredients are Biotin 5000mg, Choline 1000mg, and Silicon 5mg. Of coarse it's expensive.

There's also Biosil except it doesn't contain the Biotin, which is cheaper.

Natural ways to supplement in one's diet is bone broth.
I LIVE on bone broth and have no noticeable improvement.
My diet includes many collagen producing foods. Eggs, omega 3-6-9, Vit C, steak, fish, bell peppers, garlic, berries, lots of dark leafy vegetables. Smoothies every morning.

Any and all thoughts on what worked for you is welcomed.

I have been taking collagen powder for a while and it has not affected/increased tick-borne infections in any way. My nails and hair grow so fast. I have really good skin and I assume it has contributed to this too.

I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis, Its got to be helpful for osteoporosis as bones with a bit of give (collagen) are much healthier than rock hard bones that shatter and break easily. I have mast cell activation so no idea if it contributed to the osteoporosis or not...

Buhner recommends it in his latest book about Lyme. I forget what for, because I skip around, plus my memory is really bad! He uses the Great Lakes pork.

I just started using the Great Lakes beef again, recently. (I had stopped using it for quite awhile, because the latest batch I bought didn't completely dissolve in my tea, it left a froth, and it stunk a little. I just started putting it in my smoothies to disguise it.)

I have a friend who is pretty sure her severe osteoporosis is due to her MCAS.

She is going to get checked for parathyroid issues, just to make sure, however.

Your body is full of collagen: bones, skin, muscles, tendons, organs (connective tissue), blood vessels, joints, even the nerves.

Borrelia lives from it, but so does you!!

but what people forget is that Collagen needs loads of Vit C to be formed.

When collagen is produced, there is a complex series of events, some occurring inside of the cell, and some outside of the cell.

Vitamin C is active inside of the cell, where it hydroxylates (adds hydrogen and oxygen) to two amino acids: proline and lysine.

This helps form a precursor molecule called procollagen that is later packaged and modified into collagen outside of the cell.

Without vitamin C, collagen formation is disrupted, causing a wide variety of problems throughout the body.
