Someone made a comment about 1-2 weeks ago regarding food growing moldy after being cooked. They noted particularly they thought eating leftovers that were protein was a bad idea from that perspective.

I am familiar generally with the concept of cooked food getting moldy. Not sure I thoroughly understand, nor did I know that protein would be more of a problem.

I think it was a regular on our board ... but don't remember who ... maybe you can comment more?

I don't think it was me, but for people with a histamine intolerance it's bad to eat leftovers. Immediately after cooking, food degrades and when it gets to a certain point, it's bad.

For those with a histamine intolerance, that point is sooner than for everyone else. Especially for meat. Sometimes I'll eat leftover rice, but never leftover meat or fish.

It's no problem for the rest of my family, but for my histamine intolerance, it's terrible.

I do not eat meat, but eat egg "leftovers" often, along with cooked lentils. On the weekends, I cook my lunches for at work, so I am eating a lot of planned leftovers.

No idea if I have a histamine intolerance.

It sounds like you are referring to histamine intolerance because antihistamine diet protocols recommend not eating leftovers.

I used to do planned leftovers, too, but I can't because of the histamine issues. That was one of the hardest things about starting a low histamine diet!

I think the only way to know is to see if there's a change on a low histamine diet. For me, there was.
